KROCK WILL FLIP

I was an account exec at WKRK WNCX and the rumors are true.Once the winter ratings came out Herschel flipped BIG TIME.They were set to flip on Memorial Day, but we were still using Rover's rating to sell ad's for morning's and midday's.We were using his lead in [10 till 11 o'clock] to give Rachel a huge boost (about 73% higher than they really are). You can expect a definitive announcement August 1 since ratings come in July 25.Thank GOD I quit because that place was a poorly managed hell-hole between a PD with no balls or confidence (Nard), and stuck-up Music Director/Assistant PD ----- (Rachel Steele) who walked around looking down on everybody , because her dad's a rich lawyer (David Paris of Nurenberg Paris)I was about to commit suicide in which my former sales people will be doing in about 2 month's.So I help this helps you.

..you make me smile. IF you even worked there, you were probably fired...hence this rant. You worked in sales yet are complaining about people in programming...c'mon now.
Secondly, winter ratings don't really matter, and if you KNEW the ratings, you would see that over all, K-Rock had better numbers. Oh, and by the way, Rover was STILL AT KROCK for the winter ratings, and one of those months he wasn't on the air AT ALL. Even a non-employee could at least do some research and have a better lie going.
Oh, and how are you going to bash Rachel for her dad, when Rover's mom is a DOCTOR AND LAWYER. He's been raised with a silver spoon in his mouth and has NO IDEA what it's like to really work.

You have no idea what you're talking about, this is just another failed attempt at a KROCK rumor. This makes me think ClearChannel might be getting desperate. Stop listening to Rover's lies and get a real job in the biz...you might learn something.

Rachel is hot! Smug but hot.

You know, the one that first posted this thread is a real f*cking troll. I too worked at 92.3 for 3 years, worked directly with Nard for about 2 years of that time, and interacted a lot with Rachel. Rachel hardly walks around like a stuck up bitch. She was nothing but cordial to me at all times...be it times I was in the studio doing things during her shifts, shooting the shit with her, or just peering in through the glass at her! :p And as for Nard, anyone in radio should have someone as fair as Nard as far with dealing with people. And saying he's a *****...well, he fired me even though I'm pretty sure he didn't want to and Mr. Hershel told him to. Even when he did, we've stayed cordial because he's just a cool person.

If you want to comment about the sales staff as an ex-employee, then do so jagoff. But don't point fingers in a place that you know nothing about.

Idiot!

People seem to think KROCK will stay open c'mon now. Have you listened lately Beastie Boy's, Rage Against the Machine, and Alice in Chains every fifteen minutes ain't gonna do it. That's why all their other salesmen are quitting, now they are down to 1 sale's guy (Todd) & 1 girl (Christine). Plus a morning show that doesn't fill out their full day part then trying to base your whole station around your mid-day chick probably not a good idea. The Dj's have been saying the website name every time they break again, so they probably aren't even getting web hits. PUT A FORK INEM YOUR DONE.

It just does not seem cbs radio knows what they are doing these days. Take nyc they flipped krock to talk and back to krock and they play some dinosoar rock just bad programming and in phoenix they flip a half way decent alt to free fm then to a rhythmic station just awful and phoenix did not need anothert hip hop station so good kluck with you alls krock you will need it.

I don't think this town needs two 100.7s....and right now K-Rock is just a WMMS wannabe. Extremely predictable, playing the same crap over and over. At least WMMS throws in something odd every now and then. The "rock not talk" thing is lame, and even dumber now that WMMS got rid of Bob & Tom. The only time they ever sound good to me is when they do their "A to Z" weekends, you actually hear a bunch of variety.

I really wish they would have gone full throttle alternative at some point, instead of that half ass "everything alternative now on shuffle but still sounding like WMMS posers" imaging they had a while back. I know alternative supposedly doesn't work in Cleveland, but hell, what did they have to lose?? Would have been a refreshing sound on the Cleveland dial.

Don't know if its accurate but I heard Rover say the other day that in his last month there K-Rock had a 25 share in their demographic during morning drive. He said that the last numbers he saw had K-Rock down to a 5 share.

Now, I'm not claiming that K-Rock is the best station, but definitely better than wmms.
If you rely on Rover for your information on radio, you're retarded. It's ILLEGAL to mention any real trends on the air. Look it up.
And as for the music, that's just your opinion. I, personally, think that their borderline classic/biker-rock is pretty uninteresting. Nirvana over Nickelback? Hell yeah.
And even though CBS failed at their "FREE FM", that didn't stop CC from trying it out with wmms. Once they realized the "they talk we rock" thing, they changed their tune fast.
And if you knew anything, the MAIN morning drive times are 6a-9a...while people are in their cars DRIVING to work. The chances of an establishment playing a talk show over music is slim. Especially a show like O+A or Rover. So ending at 9 and moving on with the day isn't that bad of an idea. Though I do agree that it seems kinda "half-ass".

I sense a bit of an insulting tone in your post sir....

I'm not relying on Rover for anything....which is why I threw the "don't know if its accurate" disclaimer in there....whether its true or not, well who knows....still makes for interesting fodder. Considering that WMMS threw HUGE $$$ at Rover and that Opie and Anthony are down to all of 3 markets, there must be some truth to the statement that Rover does better, or Clear Channel at least thinks he can. Personally I don't care, I don't really like either all that much and listen for maybe 10 minutes a day.

Why do you think K-Rock is so much better than WMMS? To quote you...."that's just your opinion"

I'm almost positive that Clear Channel did not dump Bob and Tom because suddenly K-Rock went "nah nah nah nah nah, they talk we rock!!" If that's the case then whoever runs those stations over there needs to immediately resign and hire me ;-)

I never said that K-Rock was "half-ass" for only going until 9am with O&A. I say they were "half-ass" about being an alternative rock station with their music selection. I didn't know that the audience for WMMS was so large that we needed K-Rock constantly playing Buckcherry into Motley Crue as well. I wish they would have gone more of a CD101 in Columbus or 94.9 The Sound in Cinci route and opened up the playlist.....a lot. Then I would have agreed that K-Rock was the better station....but again that would only have been my opinion.

Or listen to CIDR/93.9 in Detroit. Or WLKR/95.3 in Norwalk (!). Or WBWC/88.3.

All of which are good examples of the AAA format that K-Rock SHOULD have gone towards back in 2006. But didn't. Even as they brought back Bull and Pat the Producer for a supposed effort. Could'a fooled me...

Krock rating's for phase 2 are 2.0. WMMS 4.0

And what is that supposed to mean? Is this 12+, or any one of the fragmented "money demos"... and is this all day, or just morning drive?

Either way, all other statements on this thread are correct. You just can't post ratings numbers on here without any attribution. Stop it before this market is embargoed... AGAIN.

I do listen to WBWC quite often, especially when I am on the air :) I will have to check out the Norwalk station, thanks for the heads up Nate. I had high hopes for K-Rock when they brought in Bull and Pat the Producer, its been pretty disappointing for the most part.
