Krth 101 personality changes - weekends purged?

I haven't listened to that tape for many years. It's somewhere in one of my dozens of boxes of airchecks. I had forgotten about the Dolly Parton song being on there. Yep, the tape was made in the 1980s. And, speaking of the '80s.....here is a letter that appears on LARadio.com today. When I complain about KRTH playing such a large number of songs four to six times a day, some of the "radio professionals" insist that the average listener doesn't have KRTH on for enough time each day to be aware of the repetition. Well.....

"On Tuesday around 2 pm I was running errands and listening to K-Earth. The station plays Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams and Super Freak by Rick James. Back out in my car at 6 pm, what do they play, yup - Summer of '69 and Super Freak.....The station is supposedly a 'Classic Hits' station. More like 'Classic '80s Repetition'.....I'll be listening to 100.3 The Sound in my car and other stations on the web." --Greg Wood, West Hills

Two songs played at 2 pm and played again four hours later. And KRTH has lost another listener. There ya go!
 
KRTH used to play Brown Eyed Girl, My Girl, Oh Pretty Woman, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling and a few other songs two or three times a day. Now there are around thirty songs that are played four or five times a day. Here is what KRTH has played from October 1 to October 21. I have excluded the few 1960s songs that were played only one time. And of course one of the few '60s hits that KRTH still plays is Brown Eyed Girl. *Sigh* It won't take long for anyone to count the number of songs here but I'll save you the trouble. There are only 260. Even if each song was played once before any song was played twice, there aren't enough to fill a single day. That's pathetic!

The subject of this thread is "KRTH personality changes." The station now has the dinkiest playlist in its 42-year history. The mind-numbing repetition has changed the personality of KRTH for the worse. Actually, the worst. Okay, I'm using a liberal definition of "personality" here, but I agree that we've covered this subject to death. This thread probably should be locked.

You seem deaf to my complaints and now you say my complaint is moot. I guess that makes you a "deaf moot." If a bad pun such as that doesn't get this thread locked, I don't know what will!
 
Hey Steve, before we go KPRZ lasted until 1985 when Larry Morgan, the funnyman blew it up. I personally didn't think that was very funny.
 
Once again, what is the ranking of this station among all stations in LA? Where is The Sound in comparison? I rest my case.

This complaint would be more effective if the station got a 1 share.

No one here ever complains about KLOS.

I don't like you bringing up the same complaints over and over.
I don't like you posting laundry lists of songs that are (or aren't) played.
And I don't like the "playing dumb" act.

This message board is not your personal plaything. And if/when someone reports this to the moderators, I hope they review your entire posting history, because they will see precisely what I mean.

Steve has more than enough valid points, YOU just choose to ignore and discount them. If you were a listener and not a consultant, you'd see our points just as much as your negativity. Reading these posts.....I could not resist to return and have a say. Jeez!!

KRTH is perhaps at the zenith of profitability, ratings success and listening levels.

If you think that KRTH has gone "downhill" then you entire world is upside down.

Give it a break. You contribute nothing of value to the discussions, and have become exceedingly annoying.

Oh, Steve....KMR says you're not stupid, and not having met you, I have to take his word.

So that means you either don't pay attention or have the world's worst memory.

We covered this less than two weeks ago. One more time:

(screen goes all wavy, harp music plays)

KRTH's typical listeners (and even the atypical ones) don't hear songs four times a day.

They sleep.

They eat.

They work.

They go to the bathroom.

They watch TV.

They go to the movies.

They make love.

They go to sporting events.

They go shopping.

Not only do they not hear the songs four times a day, they don't know or care that KRTH plays them that many times. They don't look at the playlist.

And if they did? They wouldn't care. I watch The Blacklist on NBC. I don't care what NBC airs the other 167 hours of the week. Lost dog reports, 167 replays of The Blacklist....doesn't matter, as long as when I turn on NBC Monday night at 10, The Blacklist is on.

Same with the KRTH listener. As long as the songs they like are playing when they're listening, they give considerably less than a (redacted) what's playing when they're not listening.

It's been an experience posting here over the years, but the time has come to move on.
Unless I see a compelling reason to return (which is unlikely), others and future new posters can try to get the message across besides myself.

The radio professionals have it one way and the music listeners will have it another. It will always be that way and that's fine.

No sense continuing anymore with the same reasons any longer. So long.

I don't care what numbers you bring up, KRTH is going downhill. It's presentation and programming methods are left to be desired.
