KSDO to relocate

When Hi-Favor bought KSDO 10 yrs. ago, it got a license, ground system , antennas, buildings and a lease for $10 mil. Last December,
Strata Equity purchased the 17+acres and notified Hi-Favor that the lease would expire in 2022. Just like @ Salem's KCBQ, a previous owner
sucked cash out with the sale of the station land (G.E. Capital). Also, like KCBQ, KSDO will have incredible difficulty finding an alternative to their
40 yr. Braverman St. location, which is now zoned R-2, 2 to 7 units/acre.
KCBQ wanted Joan Embry's legacy horse ranch off Ashwood in Lakeside. Her lawyers are still laughing about that. Muth Valley Rd. was
Salem's next try. The residents chased them out with pitchforks. Finally, Salem worked out a deal to diplex on Family Stations' KECR.
So, triplex KSDO to KECR/KCBQ? Wait and see.

CHRISTYAHNA BROADCASTING, INC. has an application for 1400 pending at the KSDO site. I guess they will have to relocate as well (if the FCC grants their application).

The buzz coming out of the Midwest/KFMB complex on Engineer Rd. is that a possible diplexing of 760 and 1130 is being discussed.
"Details at 11..." :)

Don't all these stations have different patterns? Can they all use the same antenna(s)? 760 KFMB is 5000 watts non-directional by day, but 50,000 watts directional (away from clear channel WJR Detroit) at night. My guess is KFMB's pattern is not the same as KCBQ and KSDO.

And I wonder how someone will shoehorn a 1400 in San Diego so close to 1390 XEKT Tecate, Mexico. No San Diego station is on an adjacent channel to a Tijuana-area station.

I don't think you can run 1130 and 1170 from the same tower without horrendous artifacts!

Using existing towers and somewhat similar patterns (nearly all coastal stations that are directional send most power over the city from inland and then out to sea), it is a matter of feeding those towers at the proper phase interval and power ratio to achieve the needed specific pattern.

The towers themselves can produce a wide variety of patterns, depending on how they are fed. Often a second station on a directional system will not use all the towers the original user put up.
