KSIQ-testing with full power

The current programming and audio (mono) are just a stop gap until the studio and booster are operational.

The current programming is different from what they were playing last month,AC music and an I.D.that simply
said something like,"KSIQ,Campo, the music is for testing purposes only". I strongly believe that they will continue
with CHR once everything is operational, mainly because they have imaginging and jingles already.

Right. Why would you waste money on that? It's already been reported in all the trades. If they were flipping, we'd have heard about by now.

Imaging and jingles are expensive, especially the sung jingles. If they were to flip, what other
format could they flip to? Everything else in town is well covered and saturated by other stations.

Speaking of KHTS' signal, hows the signal in Escondido? I checked on Radio-Locator to see the coverage, and I see there is only moderate signal there.

After a comment from a radio associate about KSIQ's signal strength east of El Cajon, a quick check at points near Los Coches, Dunbar, and Harbison
Canyon roads, KSIQ appears to be using the Miguel booster at this time. With a 57dbu signal into El Cajon (about 50 watts), it's usable on most any $10
or better radio. Can't find a definitive on polarization at this time, altho listed H/V...

They need to fix there spotty coverage in north county 1st.

There's really no way to fix it since the north county is WAY outside the protected coverage area.

WRONG!
They can lease or purchase an AM station and simulcast like the old Q did.

Hey, what's KSDO's signal like up there?

sometime between Wednesday and Thursday, KSIQ's engineers tweaked the sound... it is much improved. Sounds great at SDSU, not so great in Mission Valley... Funny; I heard a liner 'from Santee to Solana Beach.' In Solana Beach, the Riverside 96.1 overpowers Campo's KSIQ. Point is, the station sounds much better today than yesterday... and so it is.

I can get it in Mira Mesa and Rancho Penasquitos, yeah i also heard "From Rancho San Diego to Sea World" and "From Del Mar to Downtown this is the new Q96 ALL THE HITS!"

their jingles kinda remind me of ReelWorld but not sure who is doin thier package

A 57 dbu signal is not usable on a $10 radio. It pretty much takes a 70 dbu to be usable on cheap radios.

How about we drop the weasel words and define what we are meaning by "cheap $10 radio."
Do we mean clock radios? Sony Walkman grade?

Actually when it comes to a 57 dbu signal, a station would be difficult to pick up on anything other than a good stereo receiver with an adequate antenna, a GE Superadio, a C Crane radio or a good car radio.

57 dbu is pretty much the contour used for calculating inter-station interference. Except for better car radios, it's not a useful contour for audience projections.

In the real world, the in-home and at work listening takes place in the 70 dbu (80% of all AQH listening) and in the 64 dbu to 70 dbu area (15%). So 95% of most stations' listening is in the 64 dbu contour... and since around 70% of listening is in-home and at work, that's very significant.

Considering that most fixed location listening is on clock radios, iPod/iPhone docks, kitchen radios, etc., we have to look at the 70 dbu for most of these.

Heard a female DJ on the air earlier today. Is that Stacy Lynn? I was not familiar with their DJ's in Imperial Valley, but she was supposed to move over. Assuming that was her...?

I just heard her on the air just a few minutes ago. It's sure refreshing to hear a
live, local voice instead of voicetracking or syndicated stuff.

I'm in Granite Hills (south of El Cajon, north of Rancho San Diego) and my reception is not bad, not good.

Programming wise, the station sounds great...refreshing. As was mentioned in the previous post, having a live air talent on the air sounds great as well.
