FAIL? I wouldn't say that. KTU has done what every station, every format in every market should do. They program to their demographic. And do quite well with that I might add. For those that were in their mid 30's back in the 70's and 80's, you have a different radio station now, as KTU is still a station for the NOW mid 30's person. Don't be fooled by the idea that a format targeting 25-54 is aimed at the upper end of that 54 age group, nor are they aimed at the 25 year old lower end. I imagine that KTU leans more female friendly. With that in mind, they are the best sounding female leaning middle of the 25-54 demo in America. I would venture to say that MOST mid 30's females in the New York market like Usher, LMFAO, Rihanna, Adele and the like. They may be interested slightly that Donna Summer has passed, but more of a passing thought to them. Just a fact of time, you are talking about an artist from a time when they were in diapers. The biggest problem in radio currently and moving forward? People who try to constantly bring it back to "their" good ole days. Imagine if you grew up on Z100, you are 45 and they still played Bon Jovi? FAIL. It's the same situation here with KTU. NOTE-as KTU has become more and more hit driven playing mostly songs that are familiar to the average person, their ratings have soared.
