KTYS Stunting

who cares? stations tweek formats every few years. we all still have to go to work again monday, pay out the yang for gas, groceries and
anything else we need or want. is a radio station changing format or tweking its existing one really all that important? peace out.

If that is the case, then why did you take the time to...1. Read this thread and 2. Post in this thread?

yep..its going all Vietnamese hip hop. another niche format.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like they are already playing with the audio processor settings on the station. Hmmmmm

Enough already switch to something worth listening to. or stay the same old crappy station with all your good ratings.. I am tired of hearing about it!!!

You know......

In listening over the weekend, all I heard was that "Texas Country is moving four doors down." Now, either that means the format is moving to KSCS (are they four doors down from the KTYS control room?) or the KTYS control room is moving four doors down to a new room.

I smell a rat. I seriously don't think they're switching formats. I think it's just something to generate some buzz and get people listening. Granted, they laid off most of their air staff, but why would they hire a new PM drive jock (-ette) if they were fixin' to flip?

It's a scam.

They may keep it Country, and just run it as cheap as possible. Yes, KSCS is having its own issues, but it still helps keeping KPLX run away with the grand prize.

It appears citadel is attempting to/figuring out how to sell older demos to advertisers with the True Oldies format. Perhaps they might make KTYS classic country or country oldies & target listeners of a similar age.

They've already got that figured out... It's called KSCS.

A quality audience that BIG KSCS has, too....the biggest 25-54 unemployed audience in DFW!

I am certain you can prove that. all country, has historically had far greater qualitative than most would expect. This is probably based on your dislike for the format. Give it its due, whether you like it or not, you'd love to sell it, regardless the slump that both The wolf and KSCS have gone thru.

Funny how John Hopkins, Univ of Chicago, U.T. and Duke University did a joint research survey 2 years ago about music and the results were the music choice of a majority of people who have bouts of depression, alcohol addiction or some other form of mental challenges preferred country! Hip hop was the choice of those who dropped out of high school, barely graduated with a C average or received a GED. Classical music was the choice of those in the medical profession,(Doctors, nurses), along with traditional Jazz, plus "oldies" Same for Business administrators, and Corporate execs. Rock was preferred by lawyers, military personnel and Police. I thought it was malarkey until a friend of mine showed me a copy of the New England Journal of Medicine it was printed in.

How nice. Radio uses qualitative studies like media audit and scarborough and others that correlate directly with usage. Nice statistic, but market by market this means nothing.

Wonderful, but radio mostly uses questions to skew a projected response, rather than an objective one. The survey I mentioned was objective and outside the industry. I am sure the resident pro corporate spin trolls will differ, but hey thats their job.
