95X

Citadel has responded to 95X's decline by:

Hiring a morning show with a track record of success in the NE? Not so far.

Having a website with links that actually work? Negative.

Having compelling content on the links that do work? Nuh-huh.

Providing easy access to playlist so you can look up a song title or artist? Well, not so easy...

Firing the PD? Uh, no.

They do have a radio station that manages to play Love Her Madly and Linkin Park in the same hour. How about an hour with Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Trapt? Pink Floyd & Faith No More - back to back?

And to think that it's not working...

You don't say? :D

Not to turn this into a 95X thread, but I have some history with this station so I really can't figure out why it gets a free pass from Citadel brass.

Does the station perhaps bill enough to earn its keep despite the poor ratings? Does someone have naked pictures of Farid?

The musical trainwrecks this station creates is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Not to pile on The 'X" but they are ranked 9th overall, 7th 18-49,6th 18-34 and the scariest of all,5th in MEN 18-34!
Very sad,but it's over.

It's been over for years but someone obviously hasn't told them yet.

Or, naked pictures of Farid and Alexis?

There, try and wipe THAT picture out of your head.

I don't know who's incompetent here. I don't know if Alexis is actually programming, and not just carrying out the wishes of corporate and/or a consultant. I'm sure that O&A came from a corporate edict, just as happened in Buffalo. Alice Cooper is a nice weekend show, but not every night. Stone isn't bad, but the music - OY!

Where the heck is the rest of the management structure - from the locals to Kevin ReGrett to Judy Ellis - who allow this once-proud station to wallow in mediocrity?

I was eating when I read that! Yeesh!

Local management has driven off the last remaining bits of heritage and I think that's part of the problem in the past few years; there's no "glue" to hold it together. Sure, music is one thing but the on-air talent lineup isn't exactly legendary. O&A and Alice Cooper have their merits but then that's two dayparts that aren't local. That's the type of lineup I would put on a station that either: A) is a small fringe station that wants to attract attention or B) has no competition.

It's probably not going to end well.

As Element9 mentioned, the only way Ed could score an instant coup would be to steal away Lite's entire weekday airstaff. It would be pretty expensive up-front, but it would payoff almost immediately. Despite any opinions about the personalities... just the maneuver itself would virtually cripple Lite. Check their music list on R&R's website -- the morning guy is the MD, and the afternoon guy is the PD. Losing those two at the same time would practically cripple the station, leaving the OM or a consultant to generate music logs and handle day-to-day programming. Not to mention, the hassle of conducting searches for all three positions -- all the while, their established former airstaff is already working across town. The move would definitely generate enough press to get people to notice and change the dial.

Most people will consider the reputation of a company or an individual before they jump ship....
