KVMK flipping today at 1 PM?

Boy, that speaks volumes, and it shows even more short-sightedness in the local CBS cluster (is that even possible?) Let's take someone who was responsible for the Clear Channelization of Hispanic radio (that whitewashing, plastic, generic, nationalized sound I wrote of earlier) and put him in charge of programming this new "horizon" for the DFW CBS cluster. Hmmm, it didn't work for La Preciosa...so let's hire the guy to make the SAME mistakes now at CBS!

Not quite so. The guy was not responsible for the Preciosa format, just its implementation in Dallas where he managed the live and local part from 3 PM to Midnight. Unfortunately, the networked programming out of Salinas, CA, did vastly better than the local effort, and it was the attempt to localize that failed.

Question for DE: Do Hispanic Houstonians buy into that voicetracked, cookie-cutter schlock at KLOL, or do they (like in DFW) still gravitate to the Spanish stations that actually DO serve their community and ooze those concepts of commonality and unity?

KLOL is local and live in all dayparts. There is no voicetracking, and the format is not a copy of anything. Even, to their credit, the Dallas Mega is different musically from the Houston one.
