Does anyone know what will happen to Bo Chase? He left ESPN Austin to go this gig. And what exact plans does UT have for this station?

Time Won't Let Me, KONO won't play that, nor Incense and Peppermints, No Time Left For You either, haven't hear Crystal Blue Persuasion a heavy staple on all 3 above mentioned stations, or the other Tommy James favorite Crimson and Clover. Last time I heard Sugarloaf's Green Eyed Lady was on a 9 @ 9 from 1970 on Bob Fm (and it was the edit, not the extended play version) Ditto with Three Dog Night "Mama Told Me Not to Come" even Isley Brothers "Shout" Crusin America reminds me of back when both KOOL 930 and KONO would play a handful of pre 1964 music. Bo Chase's morning show is music intensive, so I don't oversleep when the alarm clock turns on. I am trying to find out what time they will sign off so I won't wake up to dead air instead of Tom Kent's 80's show. If I could subscribe to Tom Kent and Scott Shannon's programming I would sign up, provided I don't have to hookup a dish, and the price is reasonable. And sorry I don't do XM it's too processed.

Well, I'd rather have processed than do without the music. Anybody who used to listen to top-40 in the golden days of AM was listening not only to sound quality inferior to XM processing, but in mono as well - so you really can't complain about XM processing. Satellite has played all of the above songs in the last couple of weeks. I went over to the dark side and got HD, because I'm in Houston and virtually all the good stuff - real Christian rock, oldies, smooth jazz, etc. is only on HD-2. My car radio has 18 presets, 16 of those on HD-2, only two on the regular over the air. In Houston KRBE's HD-2 has oldies, and I know Dallas' KLUV has a similar HD-2. The chances are pretty good that both stream somehow. And the chances are somebody in Austin will pick up oldies on HD-2. But I digress - I know people object to the concept of paying for satellite - but most people pay about a hundred a month for cable, so is $12 a month for music that doesn't totally suck such a stretch? Or they pay to support NPR to get classical or jazz - what's the difference if it goes to XM instead? Believe me - NOBODY on here objects more to paying for satellite than I do - I subscribed to XM so I wouldn't be paying to support the perverted Howard Stern - can you imagine my frustration when they merged? But as long as they keep a handful of channels I listen to like the 60's, I'll keep subscribing. It is certainly cheaper than paying a fortune to iTunes to get a decent 60's library, then fussing around with all the cabling and adapters to get iPods working in every car. I've got a cradle in each car and can move the XM radio in seconds from one car to the other - foiling their efforts to make me pay by the radio.

My hope for 98.9 is that maybe they will pick up Exponential radio like Houston's NPR station did - with HD-2 and HD-3 in stereo, the bandwidth is really eroded almost as bad as satellite, but Exponential radio is really growing on me as a format. I think it would do quite well in Austin, and would be a welcome format over the air when I visit - which is usually in a car that doesn't have HD.

Whatever happens to Bo, I hope it's something good. When I was in college and my mother lived in Tulsa, he was the morning guy at the former KQLL 106.1. He definitely knew his stuff and seemed like a good guy the one time I met him.

Ok I admit, I am a media hoarder. Tons of VHS cassettes, Blank Tape Collections (which I will acquire more from Ebay) This is a great project I have worked tirelessly on, and it has to come to an end, sadly. Twine time is Ok (I briefly listened to it on KUT) but the next stop is to do maybe 7 days worth of Jammin 103.1 (playlist is way to small to do more)

I have listened to the True Oldies Stream online well it is better than the previous stream but the high end is clipped like with all the HD radio stations I have listened to.

I have software on this computer that can emulate the FM Multiplex signal, so I could probably just do that.

But all is not lost, I can make use of some of my vintage Cro2 Tapes!

I also hoard electric equipment too such as Receivers, Amps, Turntables. Electronics are my toys.

Growing up, I would never collect coins, baseball cards, or stamps. I would collect blank tapes, and show them off in school! I am still shaking my head on why I didn't purchase that Sony Metal Master cassette at Sound Warehouse on Naco Perrin and Perrin Beitel in San Antonio, Texas when I was 12, it sold for $7.99 plus tax. Worth a whole lot more today!!! Do a lookup for it on Ebay and you will see for yourself.

Speaking of tapes, anyone got a ferrochrome tape out there they could send me?
