Danny are Dru are effectively offending what few listeners they still have left because of comments they made about Heather Mills' prosthetic leg and the missing Boy Scout from North Carolina. There is an email circulating the Longview area demanding an on-air apology and boycott of the station.

Subject: Off-Color Humor on KYKX
To Whom It May Concern:
First, let me say that I am not a regular listener to KYKX radio, so you may
want to dismiss this letter completely. I hope you choose to read it.
Yesterday (Tuesday), when I got in my car to go to work, my radio was
accidentally tuned in to 105.7. Before I could change the station, I heard
Danny and Dru talking about "Dancing with the Stars". They were joking
about the contestant, Heather Mills, who happens to be an amputee. They
made several off-color jokes about her "wooden leg" - wondering if it was
going to fly off the stage during her performance, They made several other
comments that were completely inappropriate. Is this standard policy for
your station? Making fun of the handicapped or physically challenged? I
called the radio station, got the two guys on the phone and they defended
their actions, saying it was funny and everyone was laughing about it. One
of them, I don't know which one, said he could joke about the physically
challenged because he has a handicapped son. I'm sorry, but to perpetuate
the myth that the physically challenged people in this world are okay to
make fun of is sick. It is cheap, low-class and offensive. It is not
funny. What next? Let's make jokes about the one-breasted cancer survivor
in the swimsuit contest? Maybe her fake boobs might go flying! This type
of humor is just as morally offensive as racial slurs or ethnic jokes. They
should be ashamed and immediately apologize on-air to all of the listeners
(especially the physically challenged and amputees) for their poor behavior.
Second - today, they were discussing the young boy scout that got lost in
the woods. Somehow they found humor with a missing child. I wonder how he
would feel if it had been his son missing and the media made fun of the
situation? The comment - it's a good thing he wasn't a girl scout or the
bears would have eaten all his cookies - again low-class humor. This child
could have died, it is a miracle he didn't. I'm thankful that he was found
safe and sound. Again, these two radio "personalities" completely
disappointed me and reminded me of why I don't listen to KYKX anymore. I'll
be sending a copy of this e-mail to everyone on my address list in the area
asking them to consider changing the station. I will encourage each of them
to do the same.
Thank You,
