KZIA FM To Announce Staff Change

I have been monitoring all fm stations in the area and their amount of talk is by far the most.......I know commercials are a MUST to pay the bills , but you would think that since they are forced to have the commercials then they would limit themselves to conversation that has purpose....

With that format ...if they are going to stop the music ...it better be for conversation that is worth it. People tune into Z for the tunes.
If they want to hear Schulte perform , they will see him at the theatre .
Hearing him talk about a co-worker's hair on e-bay or who his co-worker thinks is hot is belittling himself (Schulte) who can be funny and entertaining. There are plenty of things out there they could talk about where he could use his talents and entertain those on the air. It just seems beneath him to talk about stuff a 10 yr old would be humored by. ten year olds don't pay the bills.
I also think he is often too belittling to his sidekick. I actually find Ric funny and I think his growth is being stunted by Schulte's need to be the entertainer the area knows and expects him to be. We need more of a team, more Ric and less Schulte. Ric has a more enjoyable voice and is funny in a more relateable way to the average listener. He seems to have less air -presence than he did when I first listened to them years ago. You only hear him when it's Zeeez Sleeze it seems.
My intent is not to slam them....believe it or not, I WANTTHEM to win.
This is the format I prefer...and I am VERY MUCH In favor of the local team.
I am amazed they get away with using so much valuable morning drive airtime in such uninteresting and immature ways. These guys can be good ....I know they can, what happened?
As I said I don't claim to know a lot about radio...but if I , the average listener am bored by this , I imagine I am not alone. I drove all the way across town without one song . The conversation was not enough to make me want to even keep my radio on .
Sure they have a household name thanks to many years of good service and great local marketing...but they cannot expect us to listen for what they once were can they? I think in order for local radio to survive than they need to be
more fun witrh quick entertaining local topics...not drawn out dull stuff.
Get it ?

Amen! Maybe with everyone on this board slamming them (not talking about you Will2) and calling them old and past their prime has frightened them into believing they have to put on a younger, 'hipper' image. They aren't young and not that hip. They are funny, smart, quick, witty, hard-working, and well- informed locally. Back that with Norton's big ol' wallet and that should be more than enough to bump them into their own class. I agree with you. They could do so much more. I think it's the fear of not being able to relate to the 28ish female that is driving them. Those women want to laugh. Make them laugh! They can get their "beauty advice" at the salon!
I think you made reference in a prior post about Heather not getting enough credit. I agree. She is an amazing part of the team and I believe they would be the first to admit that. They would never purposely exclude her from getting the kudos she deserves.

Thank you , I appreciate you really understanding what I am trying to say .

I too also feel like it may be pressure to stay "young and hip" and I think if they are just themselves people of all ages will like them for who they are.

I think they are 2 cool dudes, regardless of age.

I think for whatever reason they are a bit off the track.

Do they have aircheck sessions or do they assume they don't need them?
I doubt they are aware of this, and sometimes it just takes someone pointing it out.
The spot load is not that bad...it's the conversation choices they make .
If you are going stop the music and it ain't for MONEY (IE; A paid commercial) than it has to make ya laugh or do something for ya.
My opinion of course. I am really pleased you responded so politely FCC , I really didn't mean this as an attack...but an eye opener. I am lifting my glass for the local guys!
(There are great local "guys/gals" at corporate stations as well .....hopefully who haven't sold their souls 100% yet)
Have a great weekend media friends. Keep it live, keep it local!
