KZOK HD-2 is now TikTok Radio

This seems to be a new format that iheart is testing out. Realistically, I don’t see a strong correlation between TikTok users and those who seek out that programming on an HD-2 signal, but I guess they’re going to see if it picks up any traction. It seems like it would fit better as an HD for 106.1, where younger listeners are more likely to be.

I am not surprised this ended up on an HD somewhere in Seattle, but 102.5? Very odd choice. I would think this would fit nicely on 106.1 HD3.

There are reasons I'm told they purposely do not want TikTok Radio on the HD subchannels of their CHRs coming straight from the top of the company. The official launch of the brand is coming later this week or next week, but so far most of the HD subchannels carrying it are of Classic Rock, Country and Hip Hop stations.

No sign of TikTok Radio on Houston’s iHeart stations, where I presume it would be added to Hip-Hop/R&B KQBT, which already has Pride Radio on its HD-2. The other two iHeart FMs already have HD-2 & 3.

This was addressed in post #4 of the thread...

Yes. I believe a better fit would be 106.1 even though that may not be their corporate decision. I added to the conversation to talk about the HD Capacity and market implementation than the corporate decision. They cannot put it on any other channel than KZOK in Seattle without significantly reducing the quality. In some market, it wasn't added on classic rock, country or hip hop stations. They may be preferring classic rock, country and hip hop stations. I don't doubt you at all.

So far, I have knowledge of 17 HD2 subchannels that have launched TikTok Radio, with the HD1 formats of those 17 stations varying: Country (5 stations), Hip Hop (4 stations), Classic Rock (2 stations), Classic Hits (2 stations), AC/Hot AC (2 stations), a Rock station and a Bilingual Magic station.

On most of these, the HD2 subchannel was empty before they added TikTok Radio. As far as I know, only KMEL has replaced an active HD2 subchannel (previously Retro).

Nope. KKCW-HD2 is still Magic. TikTok Radio hasn't expanded to Portland yet, but when it does, I'm thinking they'll place it on either KXJM-HD2 (replacing Pride Radio) or KFBW-HD2 (replacing WAY FM, which is already on KKWA-HD2).

KKRZ-HD2 is unlikely because KKRZ is Top 40 (plus the subchannel feeds translator K272EL 102.3), and KLTH-HD2 is unlikely because it's a simulcast of KEX 1190.

Yes, 105.9 would make the most sense. I still don't understand why 105.9 continues to rebroadcast 96.3, but the legal on 96.3 has also identified 105.9 HD2 for years.

Reminder that KZOK-HD2 officially starts carrying TikTok Radio tomorrow, March 13. None of the talent comes from Seattle stations in the iHeart stable.
