Re: KZPT mornings/Wake up and smell the coffee
Remember all the failed morning shows on KZPT in the last 5 years. Even when they hired a good or decent show, it was never supported. In a year or so, they canned each show. You have to understand their mentality. Journal is a NEWSPAPER company that owns some radio stations. When they can't resolve radio revenue and performance problems in the same fashion as they do in the newspaper business (add a few pages of advertising to each paper), they react by changing people, cutting budgets and starting over again. They're on their 3rd GM since Wexler left, and he's STILL in charge of the market. One of them only lasted a month! This from a company that pitches recruits on long term "career" employment.
Strong rumors are often premature facts. In Tucson, there is a groundswell of discussion that KZPT will do the Journal version of Hurban. It's not necessarily the version CC or SBS or CBS does successfully. It's the Journal version. Just like everything else there, if it doesn't work...modify it until it's modified into irrelevence. Then change it. Regardless of the body count. That's what got them into their 1.6-1.6-1.7 hole. Citadel certainly knew when to throw in the towel in that battle, resulting in their pulling away strongly from KZPT. Let's just wait and see. We don't have any other choice.
