L M A stations

i will sit back i watch when the market goes down and keep my money again it was WKTX i forget i know nothing and you people know everything.

(Forgive me folks)

I probably do know more..And I don't even work in radio..

After two bounced checks I have taken back over my 1540 in Youngstown, OH. So if Sharona Master wants to play with the big boys on an LMA look me up. BUT you need to have cash up front for the first 3 to 6 months.

Maybe Sharona Master hasn't yet bought "a house and a car" and will look you up, Chris.

Didn't you say he tried to contact you already? He seems to think he called WKTX. (To help Sharona Master out here, "1250WTAE" on this very thread is the owner of WHTX/1570 Warren and WYCL/1540 Niles, the latter station he's talking about in the message immediately before this one.)

Rite on 1 thing i didnot buy a house but i bought a Ford Escape .

Good for you. Maybe you can attract an audience to watch your Escape, and sell advertising space on the sides.

It's really not good form to whine about the cost of LMA possibilities in this thread, when owners of the very stations you are talking about are IN THIS VERY THREAD reading and participating. I'm still not sure you get that.

And if you need financial advice, I have this friend in Medina who happens to be an excellent CPA.

I am sure he doesnt get it.. You don't "negotiate in the press". This thread is like something you don't want to watch but can't help yourself..If "sharona" ever gets anyone to do an LMA with him, I'd be extremely surprised.

He has no idea who Chris is in this thread, and Chris said the guy called him and "didn't get anywhere". In this very thread.

Heaven help this guy if anyone ever offers him a low-enough priced LMA deal! Maybe he can broadcast from his Ford Escape studio.

And in all seriousness, he is an excellent tax guy! I kid you not.

Ooohh now you have a consultant?..Impressive..

And one who gives such knowledgeable advice, too!

I know I, for one, would much rather have the WJTB or WCER signals than, say, 1220 or 1300 in Cleveland, or 1590 in Akron, or 1480 in Canton... ::)

So I seem to remember. I never questioned his qualifications in the world of taxation, but as for broadcasting...
Just one of those things that remind you that "fan" is short for "fanatic." And over the years, he's become a good friend.

But you did enquire re: WHTX (and 1540). The owner is right here in this thread, calling you by first name. ;)

You are looking for bargain basement prices with little financial support. And then, you rip these stations for not dropping the price down to your level. Even in the current financial doldrums, station owners can't give away airtime.

Contrast this with Denny and Marge Hazen in the WJEE thread..While one could criticize the fund raising they do, They try to do what they set out to do..Cutting corners when necessary..And still manage to get two full power FM stations on the air within 6 months..They make do with what they have  and still get the job done...where Rick seems to want a free ride..

If you look at this thread and constrast it with how Jim Davison and Laurel Taylor are slowly but steadily building WHTX from the ground up, it couldn't be more striking. IMHO.

First of all, to all my friends who read the Cleveland board, this was the most entertainment I've had with Radio-Info.com in a very long time. It was a nice follow-up to a tuna-and-tomato soup lunch.

OK, now to a few words on behalf of a market which has its share of possible LMAs both above and below 1200. WEDO-810 never confirmed it but someone was touting a 1,000-watt clear-channel daytimer here for $1.75 million for a while then dropped it.

If anyone would like a daytimer with 4 watts at night, WLFP-1550 is still on the block at $225,000. Even with 4 watts you get some nice places like Forest Hills and the Highland Grove neighborhood in McKeesport.

I wouldn't know how serious your "Sharona Master" was, nor care, but I almost would suggest setting up a studio and trying online radio, as quite a few have done down this way and Ohio immigrant Terry Lee is doing with four channels, one for his old shows and one where Porky Chedwick remains alive and well.

That way an Internet feed is there 24-hours a day, and even providing a source of income, and can be plugged in to a terrestrial signal if this individual could find it. I'd say this: If he or she gets an LMA, the next step should be some sort of deal that leads to an FM translator ... which would be my advice also to whoever the next owner is for WLFP and/or for WEDO, present or future.

Back to point one, thank you again for the best time I've had with a board since someone in Pittsburgh was talking about mixing up music for soccer moms with a somewhat harder form of rock on one of the local FMs.

Thanks for the input from Western PA, KT. Much appreciated!

This guy has "a consultant", the one who advised him not to LMA "stations above 1200".

Really, he'd get much better service from Scott Fybush. The problem is, sm probably would balk if Scott quoted him anything higher than the price of a candy bar to do consultant work.

And in the same building as 1540, which has a now-failed LMA.

Jim and Laurel are a prime example of how to do it right, and Chris is wise to avoid characters like this R-I poster here.
