Large Metro Areas w/o Major Signals

Here in Boston, we have 1510 WWZN, which is 50 kW, but is by no means a blowtorch. It beams all of it's signal out to sea, plus it's high on the band.

Another poor coverage 50 kW station around here is 990 WALE in Greenville (Providence), RI. They are HIGHLY directional, sending it all out to sea. 630 WPRO, 790 WSKO, and 920 WHJJ, all 5kW stations all cover better than WALE.
 
They have the right call letters. Maybe they are there to serve the whalers, fishers and some whales who possess radios.
