Have any of you been listening to Larry on KIVA?
Opinions?

Larry Sounds GREAt and getting lots of calls saying they have switch from Bob Clark to Larry

AGM was on the Right track doing Talk on FM But failed to realize how Much $$$ it takes to make it a success

In my opinion the money was pumped in,but maybe allocation could have been better.
Who Knows?
Larry had a nice office.

Hindsight is always best.

Doing talk on that signal against the flame thrower KOB was ballsey to say the least.

In my opinion,The project was rushed and execution could have been better.
I could be wrong.

But you know it did cause some attention and was the first attention getter in this boring market in a long while.

When you have the recognized local talent like Larry, the foundation has been set.
Now in order to beat out the flame thrower KOB you need to put on your seat belt and stay the course for a long time.

Wish there was a legitimate rival to KOB as their shows have become very stale. AGM had a shot but the on air talent wasn't hungry enough to do what it would take to beat out KOB instead they went for KOB lite which never worked.

Am I off.....in saying that locally, no one wants to take KOB head-on at their own game, politics. So inevitably they fail. Ahrens was a great fit at KOB, "fish outta water" at AGM. A local rival station might have to be politically opposite (KOB has cornered the local market on the propaganda shows), and I may be off here too, but, most lefties don't listen to political talk radio. They get a little MSNBC in the morning and afternoon and that's It.

Most local talk show hosts are boring filler between commercials

I enjoy seeing Larry at the Station Everyday and to Albuquerque he is that Good Guy next door they have missed.....It is hard to take on KKOB but did you see and I know it is 12+ but if you slip that much you must have problems in your demo they went from an 8.6 to a 6.2 and almost fell out of #1 to KRST what is happening especially in an election year that is an Ouch or you might say a wake up call ...KIVA has been getting mucho calls saying how much they like hearing Larry again onward and upward

Arhens show is only time I tuned In to KOB (and Lobo games with mike Roberts, when I was on the road) and I haven't been back since he left. When I said he was a "Fish outta water at AGM" I was referring to the fluffy format not Arhens. Larry, Bobby Box and the departing TJ Trout are still a big draw for any station and of the three Arhen's is the most admired and Box is possibly the biggest draw. Especially with this election year the right producer and Arhens could finally knock KOB off , If, they do a better job than AGM did. And on a closing note , I predict that Hope Christian Polo Team will beat the crap outta Larry's Beverly Hills Polo Team.

Chris and Bean were entertaining. That is what is missing Villanucci is no longer entertaining. Too many what is your favorite hamburger topics. Nothing fun or fresh. Bob Clark is a snooze. Ahrens was okay for old people, but what about some fresh stuff

When is the last time you heard any young (I haven't seen a tea party member under 100 yrs of age todate) people calling in to KOB..... but then again , i don't listen to KOB, so how would I know.

Nice to see NEW MEXICO come alive again, even if it's only softball speculation on Larry A's chances for stealing the crown from his former employer. With waning interest in the Radio Through the Years thread last Fall, NM has been awfully quiet.

For a state having no "major" metro market, New Mexico has a unique history of producing superior radio talent, ie Bobby Box, Art Ortega, Frank Ragan and Carl Bell. Larry too can count himself as one of the best. Who can forget his Four-Hills lunch menu gag on KKOB's morning drive show? Yet another legendary figure did time on the old KOB, Jimmy O'neal, whose successful afternoon drive show in the '60s kept KDEF & KQEO at bay. It helped that listeners remembered Jimmy from his gig as host of TV's "SHINDIG"

No other local station will topple KKOB anytime soon. Their position at the top is secure, if only for the years of tradition and momentum going for this 50,000-watt giant. Still, Larry A's return to the airways is great news!

Listened to Larry this morning,He is a smooth professional who can work with any mundane quest.
