I am finding Al Rantal to be a very good listen in his new PM drive time slot, and hope to see him indeed last there for quite a while. He's topical, energetic, good with guests, allows more than a token number of callers to air their thoughts, etc.4UH8SIMBKAGN said:David Drier is a RINO...
There is no way Al Rantal is going to last in that shift.

BTW...RINO means - ?
Sean Hannity's new show on Fox News Channel is getting HIGHER ratings than Hannity & Colmes did (more viewers than HLN, CNN and MSNBC combined during the 6 PM PST slot). Also, Glenn Beck had great ratings during his first two outings on Fox News Channel. Rush is as topical and relevant as ever.SuperRadioFan said:David at USC said:I am finding Al Rantal to be a very good listen in his new PM drive time slot, and hope to see him indeed last there for quite a while. I hadn't been listening to Al for a while, but listened last night on my drive home. Your points are accurate according to my ears. OTOH Hannity is becoming unlistenable (and Rush though I didn't listen to Rush all that much) due to his insistance on his opening "theme" of Rev Wright SoundBites etc and Scott Shannon warning "Hold on to your wallets -- Your taxes are going sky high!". Hannity's theme is "Conservatism in Exile". It got old really quick and I for one feel Sean and Rush are out of step with mainstream America. We'll see how all this plays out in the coming months. I'll never forget Rush's "America Held Hostage" during the Clinton Presidency. I think most people are fed up with the partisan rancor right now.
Al Rantel, though a conservative, voted for Obama.
RINO= Republican In Name Only
There is no honeymoon for real conservatives.SuperRadioFan said:Glenn... Maybe you missed the part of my statement "fed up with the partisan rancor right now."
It'll be back after the honeymoon of course. Neither David @ USC nor I believe that Al is a heavyweight influence compared with the likes of J&K. I happen to think Glenn Beck is one of the best and I'm glad he's back on TV again.

I'm certainly not surprised by anything they did. None of it will work.
That said, at least there will be something to listen to up until 11 PM with Al Rantel returning to nights.
Joe Scarborough. I kniew that would happen once he got to WABC gig but give me a break. Like that will ever work against Rush Limbaugh.
Doug McIntyre adds an extra hour to his show, starting Monday 2/2, from 5 to 10 AM followed by the syndicated "Joe Scarborough Show" from 10 AM-NOON. Sean Hannity stays 12-3 PM, Mark Levin will be live from 3-6 PM. Al Rantel moves back into evenings from 6-11 PM. Curtis Sliwa moves to the 11 PM-3 AM. Don Imus continues from 3-5 AM.westfield60 said:I'm not up on the latest changes. Can you please detail what those are?
Boring. Entertain me. I would have picked Mancow over Joe Scarborough. Radio's best talk hosts come from a top 40 background. They know how to entertain. Dees should have learned this years ago. He could be liberal radio's top talk host today. Los Angeles expects to be entertained not just have issue oriented talk hosts. KFI understands this but no other talk station in this town gets it.gcreedle239 said:I'm disappointed that DGH couldn't/wouldn't blow up the station more if they had to go heavy syndication. They seem to be the place for flavor-of-the-day conservative talk. That doesn't change and, IMO, limits their growth. I had hoped they try something more daring, like a "Life Improvement" format. Keep Doug McIntrye in the mornings, then go with Dave Ramsey, who's financial advice show is frank and compelling, not to mention extremely topical. Add Clark Howard or Suze Orman, then have a local guy at night kid of like Mr KFI/KABC but general advice for LA living, city hall, traffic issues, general questions, kind of like Handel on the Law. This format would be a clean break and allow them to give the station a fresh image and could give them some alt programming value to KFI. The new ABC Syn heavy line-up is like waving the white flag.
