Larry Hagman Has Died

JR's funeral

Mark down March 11th on your calendars. That's the date JR Ewing's funeral will air during season 2 of Dallas. The article states that several Dallas veterans, including many not seen on this version, will return.

We could see a real Dallas reunion out of this. Other than Ray and Lucy (who made quickie cameo appearances during the first season)and Cliff Barnes (already in the series); we could see Gary Ewing (from Knot's Landing); Sly, JR's former secretary; Ray's former wife, Donna, now in Washington DC; any of the Southfork 'help'; anyone JR ever doublecrossed; and anyone and everyone JR ever married and/or slept with. THOSE lists are endless. ;D

Doubtful that we'd see a Victoria Principal/Pam Ewing comeback BUT this is definitely something that could spur even a quickie return to Southfork for her.

And nobody from the dream season. :D

How is Mary Crosby looking these days? Calling all mistresses from the original series!

Nice idea, but I'm pretty sure her character (Kristin Sheperd, Sue Ellen's sister)...was found the next season as a drowning victim in the Southfork swimming pool.

As long as "Dallas" is bringing back so many former characters to attend the funeral of "J.R.", I hope they remember that Barbara Eden had played one of his business competitors "Lee-Ann De LaVega".

And the answer to The Rob's question was a close as Goggle Images. IMO - looking very good. She is 53 now.

Far be it from me to "write" an episode for them, but they could always say that the cause of death was "complications from the shooting" or something like that. ;D

I had the misfortune to only be watching Dallas during the bad years, like the "dream season" and the year in which Donna Reed played Miss Ellie. Too bad that they couldn't also have made THAT year a dream season as well! ::)

I don't think they could or would recast the role. Even though the focus is supposed to be on the younger generation, the older generation has still had substantial storylines (Sue Ellen for Governor; Bobby with a cancer scare and drilling or not drilling on the ranch; JR in various deals). Larry Hagman did already film several episodes for Season 2. I wouldn't be surprised if they continued whatever storyline(s) he's in by keeping him off camera and using his death as the Season 2 cliffhanger.

I wonder if there will even be a need for a Season 2 cliffhanger...is this show going to survive without JR? I'd love to know what percentage of the Season 1 audience also watched the original and is more interested in the older generation.

Count me in the last group. I'm only 34, but the only reason I am watching this Dallas is because I have great memories of the original series. If they phase out the older Ewings, I'd probably quit watching.
Much as the original series wasn't as good after Jock died - and it still went on another nine years - this series will have a lot of work to do to be as good without JR.
