Larry Lujack

Many people may not realize that Superjock and Rush do not see eye-to-eye in the political arena. It will be very interesting to hear him with Roe. I always said that Lujack would have been a natural for the Air America fiasco.

I'm almost to the point of saying he will show up on 94.7 FM. With the recent (and soon to be replayed) WLS Rewind and his upcoming appearance on the AM side, could a home on the FM be where Lujack lands?

If so, will Lil Tommy jump ship to reunite with Uncle Lar? I don't know what type of contractual restraints Edwards has at 100.3.

Does anyone really actually think that Entercom would have even the slightest interest in reuniting Edwards and Lujack for a "permanent" gig?

It's not Entercom, it's Citadel that runs WLS 890 and 94.7 WZZN and yes it's possible. The ratings are going up for WZZN - they are doing very well.

I would love to hear Lujack and Edwards again, but if WZZN was going to hire them, they would have done it last year. Meanwhile, Larry Lujack is more conservative than people think, although on those few occasions he offered a personal opinion he seemed more middle of the road. What I like about him is that he does not shy away from calling a fool a fool regardless of which side the person is on. Anyway, I was thinking that maybe Lujack is doing an on-air audition with Con for a more permanent gig there.

WZZN "True Oldies" format is a pet project of Mitch Dolan who was running ABC/Disney and is now the sole decision maker for the Citadel former ABC stations. It was just Scott Shannon automated 24/7 until last summer. Slowly more local control has been wrestled away. John Gallagher has been much more succesful getting things done than former GM Jim Pastor (now overseeing WMVP).

Some people in the know are questioning if Mitch is long for the role or will Judy Ellis (former NY market manager for Emmis) take over his duties. Mitch had a big golden parachute built into the deal. He could easily walk away if Farid puts presure on him. The playing field has changed and we may see must more localization and control in the coming months.

Don't judge WZZN's future by its past. Too many variables have changed.

Long live Uncle Lar!

Uncle Lar sounds very comfortable this afternoon on WLS. He sounds like he is having fun.

Paraphrasing Uncle Lar from his interview with Bob Sirott a few years ago on WTTW, "Rush and I don't see eye-to-eye on many issues". I have the issue on VHS tape somewhere.

I can't believe the change in his voice. He didn't sound much different from his old self when he was on 1690 not too long ago.
But I could hardly recognize the voice today. I'm pretty sure he quit the cigs, ya think that makes for the change?
I don't think he cared too much for the segment with Clyde.

VTI was right down the road from us. We live in the big metropolis of Wanatah, IN.

I don't listen to Roe Conn all that often, is this Clyde a regular? I don't blame Lujack for being annoyed.

He should have "slammed dunked" him.

Clyde is a regular, and is usually more entertaining. Heck, I travel so much regular listening to anything can be difficult.
I know Wanatah. Though I live in Chicago, I have family in Valpo, chesterton, Portage, and the fellow I hold patents with
lives in Hanna.

VTI was a great school.

I was thinking the same thing Tom and hoping he is not unwell. Maybe it was just a bad day for him.

Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I'm thinking the ISDN line Larry was on from that studio in New Mexico wasn't the strongest. Having heard him on 1690 and even when he was on 103.5 "The Beat" a few years back, he would often go on from New Mexico and the line was so clear you sometimes couldn't tell. I don't know much about the equalization, but I'd like to believe it was more of a technical issue than something with Larry's health.

I don't know, he was using ISDN when he was on RealOLdies and that had a crap signal, but Lujack sounded like Lujack

That's what I thought; he sounded the same as when he was on 1690. Probably better due to 'LS' better signal.

Hope to hear him soon on a major signal in Chicago.

Apologies for my earlier brain cramp...I meant to say Citadel.

Much as I'd like to, I still can't see a "permanent" Lujack/Edwards reunion happening, however.
