LAS VEGAS RADIO SUCKS

Never did drugs, Mike. However, if you did them back when you were on the air in the 70s ..... more power to ya. Now, you say you did a "little part time in Vegas". If anyone is interested, please check out the website: www.440.com/nameso.html. You have to scroll down a bit. You will see under Mr. O'Neil's name the following: Now: Mike says (2/04), "I'm doing mornings at Adult Contemporary KMZQ-FM and running running Mike O'Neil Productions, Las Vegas, Nevada." I never heard of a "morning man" doing the shift parttime. I thought it was Monday - Friday. Oh -- and by the way -- Mike -if you were doing mornings at the time ... you sounded an awful like like "Melanie".

Obviously 440.com made a mistake now didn't they. I was asked to do mornings back then but it was not what I wanted so it appears someone at Infinity jumped the gun. Did a little part time fill in at Lite for craig whom I knew from L.A. Thought Tom Humm and many others were great but It bored me to death so I quit. 440.com does not list many of the stations I was with over the years but there are other sites that do. As for you trying to constantly dis me I find you petty. If you have a problem with me see me privately I'm sure you have found my e-mail address as I see your ip address from 440.com and I am sure we can work it out. No I don't like the sound of Las Vegas radio...I believe it has the potential to be much, much better so I exercise free speech. The bulk of the problem is due to the broadcast companies that have screwed up most markets , yes even L.A. But for some reason many local jocks (if in fact you are)are not interested in improving & growing. When I hear vegas radio is great from someone like yourself I know why it sounds so poor There is always room to improve and if you are satisfied then shame on you. I hope you flash back on this conversation years from now with no retirement. Remember in todays radio after 40 you are an old man ...that is a real improvement now isn't it. I have your IP.

Big Pipes, is that what you smoke out of?

Re: Agreeing with, and respecting O'Neil

For once, Mike, I agree with you 100% ... because you make perfect sense. Corporations have messed up radio. It was fun working for a station with a single owner, who roamed the halls. It was fun playing records and having personality. It was fun only filling out one form and talking to one person, asking for a vacation day. It was fun knowing the staff you worked with ... including the sales people and engineers. It was fun. Now, while radio is still viable, and I continue to love the industry, it's much more of a business. Mike, I too, am over 40. I, too, have a very very comfortable retirement, which I could not have done if I stayed in radio fulltime. You were probably a very good jock in your day. I moved here from DC, so I, too, know what a big market is. You love dropping names and stations. Just not my style. True, this market does not sound like LA, just yet. When I moved here, Las Vegas was Market 94. Today, we are 32. Trust me, coming from DC, to continue an incredible life with my family, the day I turned on the radio for the first time in Las Vegas, it sounded like the minor leagues. However, I think myself, and tons of other talented men and women have worked to make this a good radio market. I respect you comments. I guess we all cannot be as good as you were. We just all have to live with that. Oh, and I have your IP too, although I won't do anything with it. That's just being a bully and childish.

Sorry, but the Vegas radio scene is really not happening these days anymore. Jack FM is really the only bright spot on the FM dial, as well as Star and probably Mix 94.1, but KLUC is more urban than CHR -- a FAR cry from where this station was some 20 years ago.

There's been some great stations over the years (Power 97 and the famous tuki-tuki bird, The Edge, Z94, the old KKLZ when Johnson & Tofte were around, and let us not forget The Crusher on AM 1140 with that Cylon voice).

L.A. radio hasn't been too great these days either, so Vegas is not alone.

Actually I have never mentioned a name or a station....only a city.

I like the market. It's the radio stations that suck!

Whoa, don't mess with Mike!

Mike how do you find the IP address of your detractors? You might have just electronically threatened Rondevou?. One question for you, as I always enjoyed your Work in Southern California. 440.com only lists information you provide. How could Johnny Williams just make this up?.

Must have missed that part. I know Mike moved from Los Angeles after many succcessful Years in L.A. to get into Real Estate in Clark County. I was surprised when I read at 440.com a couple years ago about Classy 100 FM. I liked Mike's Hair. Visit his Head at www.laradio.com.
