Last Song for WRXP

"Give Back The Radio" Alice Cooper
"The Last DJ" Tom Petty
"F--k Radio" Ultramagnetic MCs
"How To Kill A Radio Consultant" Public Enemy
"Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" Nirvana
"Radio Suckers" Ice-T
"The End Of Radio" Shellac

Whenever I think of great radio sign offs, I always think of WAVA Washington's in 1992. They did an hour long send off, and they were able to fit in 3 "Final" songs before signing off for good, even if it isn't the kind of "Rock" that RXP is known for, either one of these songs would be optimal for them to say goodbye with....

"'Round The Dial" by The Kinks

"Radio Gaga" by Queen

or

"Goodbye" by Night Ranger

Drelio, the jock that is on at this time, indicated that 'RXP programming effectively ends at 10 pm tonight. After that time, they will simply be airing the syndicated show, Lovelines till midnight. And after that, as he put it, "We're out of the building."
So the last song should air around 10 pm (unless they perhaps squeeze in a couple more after Lovelines).

Got a soft spot in my heart for the Kinks track. Unlike the situation described in the song, though, at least RXP's folks get to say goodbye, and if you care to keep tabs on 'em, there's Facebook. So there's that.

After Midnight ET: ???whatever Merlin Media has in its bag of tricks for the immediate future??? Possibly (as reported) a music format for a couple of weeks followed by the talk format's debut.

Hopefully these links below will remain active through the format switch for those out of the NYC area. They may revert to the new "online only" version of Rock 1019 RXP (formerly "The NY Rock Experience"), at which point the new station's website may become active, rumored to be http://www.1019WYNY.com and likely with new webstream links. We'll see how much of a transition period there is.

WRXP Streaming Audio Player: http://www.1019rxp.com/Stream/index.aspx
WRXP Direct URL Stream Link: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WRXPFM.pls (lower quality)
WRXP Direct URL Stream Link: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WRXPFMAAC.pls (higher quality)

Or just use the line said at 1010 WINS just before they changed formats in 1965:

We'll be back with more music, right after the news...
Now, THAT'S funny!

...and the Dodgers move back to Brooklyn.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

Before the voting closes...

How 'bout "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve?

It was #1 on their Definitive 1019 list last Labor Day 2010...

Preceding two songs before "Bittersweet Symphony:"

"It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)" by REM and Foo Fighters' "Walk."

It looks like WRXP (and for that matter, Q101/Chicago) will be converted into internet-only stations by Emmis as of midnight. Obviously sans deejays. This includes the webstream - looks like that's staying in Emmis control.

So people that can't get the 101.9 OTA signal outside of New York will be out of luck until Merlin sets up a webstream, and presto.
