Going from the worst morning show in the market since the Brian Roberts snooze-a-thon at KRTH to a state-of-the-art one cannot be downplayed; the on-the-air chemistry between Shawn Parr & Robin Banks is exceptional.
Perhaps you didn't see the enormous amount of media coverage the format change received. And you may be giving too little credit to word-of-mouth; in this day of IMing, TEXTing, Twitter and the like, word-of-mouth is a viable process. Check out www.womma.org.
