Former R&R Country Music Editor Lon Helton reported in his newsletter awhile back that Clear Channel will flip one of it's stations to country in the not-too-distant-future, with KYSR & KBIG being the most likely candidates.
Clear Channel decided months ago not to go country when Star started to rebound. Not that they didn't look at country. There is zero chance that Clear Channel will do country in Los Angeles in 2007.
There will be changes at both KBIG and Hot in the new year. Hot 92 Jamz becomes Hot 92.3 again in the next few weeks.
Saul Levine is a horrible businessman. His stations may be in the black but that is due only to his low overhead. His stations are losing millions in profits each and every year. It's what he is missing by running a dying format rather than one with real protential growth (and that isn't country either).
Once he dies, the family will sell the stations anyway.
