The answer is yes they do read this board.
Good or bad, it's an ego thing for some of them.

In other words, "It's all a part of the plan" right?

I know for fact that not just a few in the industry read this
board but a good part of the industry here does. It's virtually the only feedback they get outside of phone calls and Arbitron. That's it.
Many radio guys in this market would never tell you they read this board
but trust me when I say, they do. Even a few GM's.
Many people in the industry here won't divulge their real
names for fear of retribution by management or co-workers.
Can't blame them. It's actually entertainment for many of them as
well as an ego trip if their show or station is mentioned. Good or Bad.
They love it.

Here's proof. Take a look at how many hits one
of these posts receives. Then look at how many people actually
post here. The results are staggering. More read the board
than respond.

As far as I know, myself, the KRXO Engineer and Dave McKay are the only
ones I know of that have divulged who they really are.

For some, I don't blame the anonymity.

It's like refusing to answer the request line for fear of criticism.

As a general rule managment types think they know everything and find any input other than "yesssirrrr!" to be insulting. They can be so dead-wrong it's not even funny, but will not tolorate constructive criticism from their "lessers". The nice thing about radio boards like this is it gets it out in the open where they can view it without the backlash. Quite frankly not listening to the help and the customers is what is getting the radio industry into big trouble these days. Hopefully Rado-info.com is doing it's part, indirectly, to help this issue with our posts.

Yes, you're right, Insultant. This board does give those who work in radio a voice to give their opinions and, at times, harsh and/or constructive criticism when needed. (And very often, it's definitely needed!! LOL)

And it's nice to be able to do that sort of thing in an anonymous way. Because like you alluded to, if you state your real name on this board and you tell the whole world why you think radio in OKC ain't what it should be, and you even include your own station in your "critique"......God help you if your boss views this site and sees your message on this board!!! You'll probably be handed your favorite coffee mug and then escorted to the exit door the following morning!!

I love it when I see guys on various boards on this site make the macho statement that they think those of us who choose to remain anonymous are wimps or cowards! That supposedly "only a real man" would dole out criticism of a station or market---and use his real name while doing so! As if that's something to be admired! I think that's nuts, myself. If somebody wants to use their real name on this site and say whatever, and then let the chips fall where they may, my feeling about that is: Fine! Go ahead! Good for you! More power to you!

But, I have a very strong feeling that most of us here on this board/site choose to remanin anonymous because we're just being both practical and realistic! The reality is (and human nature being what it is) that if your boss saw something you wrote on this board and he didn't like it....at the very least, you're gonna get an earful from him when he sees you next.

And for all of those people out there who like to holler and scream that all of us here on this board/site should be made known, and that our true identities should be out there for all to see---what those people fail to realize, is that if you tell everyone who you really are, and if you tell everyone what you think about OKC radio, and assuming your speech is not a very flattering one....not only do you risk being fired by your current boss, you also risk never being able to get another job anywhere in Oklahoma because who knows how many management-types read this board. If many of them do read this board, you can be sure that practically all of them will remember your name and they won't hire you for a job because they'll think you're an opinionated boat-rocker type. They'll be scared and/or turned off by you and the comments you made that they still vividly remember reading about on the Radio-Info site.

I choose to remain anonymous. I don't make false accusations against people on this board and/or site. If I did that, then yes, making accusations and hiding behind a fake name is an act of cowardice. But I don't do that. I just call it the way that I see it. It's all just my opinion. And for the reasons I stated above, I believe that stating my opinions in an anonymous way is the best (and safest) way to go. Like everyone else here, I have bills to pay too!! And it's a lot harder to pay them bills when you're out of a job--and nobody else wants to hire you because you have been essentially blackballed simply because of the opinions you like (Need?) to share on the Radio-Info site/Oklahoma board.
