98.9 stayed in the dumps too, even with Fitz.
KNKX-HD2 (Jazz-24) receives a 0.1, is that the first time I've ever seen that station?
I wonder if stations like KTTH got a little bump from the Rush Limbaugh cancer news? Maybe a little "might want to listen to him while I can" sort of thing? Or is he even on the air right now?
We can talk about KTTH all we want, but I'm very worried about 94.1. I hope Soft AC isn't a mid-late '10s fad that is now dying off, as KSWD is one of my favorite stations in western WA. What happened!? Are people sick of John Fisher and Delilah now?
I think it's time they throw in the towel too. Carla Marie and Anthony are awesome, but they are no match for 92.5's morning show maybe move Carla Marie and Anthony to another iHeart Pop station in a large city. I like their show I listen online. Maybe a flip to Alternative would be best. I can imagine that 106.1 overlaps musically at times with KUBE.
Since the format for iHeart is basically 'plug and play', and there would be little payroll overhead running voicetracked talent, I'd say anything they can do to chip away at Entercom's rock stations would be a win over the current half-baked CHR format.
I agree. I probably won't be listening if that happens since that really wasn't my thing, but I really thought 102.9 as Alternative sounded pretty good. In Spokane, they have an Alternative format that sort of combines a standard alternative format with the format run on 102.9. It was a lot more current based than 102.9 was, but still had a bit of classic alternative.Seattle is one of the few markets where being a second-fiddle alt rock station isn't that bad. They can pull a little off those sweet KNDD numbers. Maybe help some of the other clustermates look better overall in the monthly horse race.
I'd say go with what they were broadcasting on 102.9 as mostly classic alternative/grunge. It sounded decent and was playing stuff that doesn't get played much on 99.9 or 107.7. Considering iHeart wants national syndication, the flavor of "Alt" we may get might be the Premium Choice version, which is pretty much a straight-on KNDD competitor musically.

I also thought 102.9 was well-programmed. I'm more of a rock guy, but I found the mix of alt and classic alt there interesting. I think they still run it on an HD2?
Seattle is the home of grunge, so it would seem that alt-rock is a natural here. As to whether it would make money, or predominantly GenX audiences for alternative really matter, I'll leave that to the experts to determine.
