Laura Ingraham

Brian Maloney said TRN's Roy &/or Mark Masters reacted when Laura apparently tried to
market her show to Citadel/ABC stations, in case Hannity left; Laura's contract is up
in Sept. She is barred until then from negotiating with other suitors and TRN
locked her out after this...
she does have the Fox News Channel 5 pm gig for now, "Just In" (also on XM 121 Fox News Channel)

Nice attitude from those who espouse and supposedly practice "mind over matter" techniques and how "healing your mind" crap can heal all ills...

Yeah. Then look at what they do.

They've learned a lot from their broadcasting brothers.

Laura's first TV gig went so well the first time... I guess John Gibson is being bumped off TV to focus on his radio show, now heard on stations like Hot Talk 1640 in Opelika and The Big Talker 1700 in Odessa.

As to Ingraham leaving TRN, I don't why she would want to do an afternoon show, or are we proposing keeping her midday daypart? Gees, ABC hasn't had a syndicated hit in middays since... um, Sam Donaldson? I don't think Laura resonates as well as Hannity does, and since she's in bed with Salem, she's already heard in most major markets, so ABC wouldn't be adding to her roster, only putting her on slightly better stations, and probably decimating what's left of their stations. Nevertheless, The High School Dropout is lucky to have just renewed Savage since without Ingraham, he'll have no momentum to force feed Rusty Humphries on 210 stations.

So true - I was just about to make that point. Thanks! :D

It looks like TRN has locked out Laura Ingraham permanently, and is fraudulantly presenting The Laura Ingraham Show. I'm sure local stations and advertisers are not happy with TRN's actions. Can local stations immediately drop the show? Any guess on how Laura's absence will affect local ratings and revenues?

Sounds like a lawsuit in the making... NY is still union (non right to work) if I'm correct?

Funny.

Ol' Rusty certainly demonstrates how masterful schmoozing and self promotion can propel a very, very medicore talent into a mini-syndication success.

I don't know if that says more about Humphries....or the state of syndicated radio fare.

Taylor on radio-info was hearing (yesterday's column) that she could be back by June 30 or maybe sooner
but who knows. The Wash post article by Kurtz had said her TRN contract is up in Sept. and she can't
negotiate with other suitors till then (that, apparently, may have been happening with Citadel-ABC or
others and may be one reason for her lockout? As has been noted, TRN does not want to let her get
away.)

The thing is TRN may have already blown that opportunity. I know I would have walked and moved into a different line of work.

My point earlier if she is a member of AFTRA (one of the few) She does have recourse in a union state like NY. I have no clue from there.

She'll be back

I was under the impression Laura lived in DC. Maybe I'm wrong. Or missing something.

TRN has told affiliates she'll be back 6/30, though.

TRN is telling affiliates that Laura will be back on the air on June 30th...if that was the case it seems that Laura would be announcing that on her web site instead of keeping up a link to an article talking about how she is being kept off the air. I find this whole thing very odd...if Laura goes away TRN will be doing massive damage control.

I guess all we can do is wait for Monday. But the fact that Imus had her on his show a week or so ago indicates there may have been some talk with WABC/Citadel.

In Tucson, I thought I heard Laura (or maybe a best of) complete with her endorsement ads.

I'll have to call Jon Justice and ask.

I'll be hopefully looking for a live show on Monday..

Rumor is Laura just lost her affiliate in Cincinnati.

If this is true this could be a major sign that she may not be returning to radio at all. Would it really surprise anyone? If she can do an hour TV gig and keep her books and appearances going she might just do that. She recently adopted a child...maybe she wants to take her life down a notch.

What would they put in her place at WKRC?

It's not an addiction...just a crappy show...

Personally, I'd rather have her on TV where at least she's easy on the eyes. ;D On radio, she's just another shrill, unoriginal squawker displacing the local talent.

I've seen her show several times.

She needs to stop talking over her guests. Why invite them if your not going to let them make their case? It's TV and not her radio program where she can get away with cutting off non-visible callers.

Beck covers the same topics, without the shrill.
