Legal And Illegal Power Aliens

And here I was just about to request the proper length for a wire antenna pointed right at the Lumberyard so I could get static-filled Oldies nightly just like back in the 50's.

I'm sooooo bummed!!!

The Nurse and I'd give two 20lb bags of rice just to hear Lumberyard 14~Forty once again at night. For such a dorky operation, the jingles sound great, the production is tight and the compression is just plain kickass. Perhaps we could lead a headlight vigil in the '76 Gremlin to the canal bank some summer evening in hopes of changing Gumpdusky's mind about their Scottsdale daytimer. And come to think of it, we've never heard Brown Eyed Girl on Lumberyard 14~Forty!

Oopsie! ::)

More than two hours after monthly sunset (7:15pm during May),
KFNX 1100 Cave Creek still has not powered down to one gallon.

With certain stations it seems you start a new month and they
have to "re-learn" the power up/power down rules. I guess the
KFNX brain-trust went to school on the short bus. ;D

Maybe KFNX was making up for Friday night (or was it Thursday?) when they were off the air for most of the night.

Saturday night, for the first time in a week, KFNX 1100 Cave Creek
was actually on night power when I checked mid-evening, however
I don't know if they dropped at 7:15 or let it slide a while. Tonight,
they let it slide until 7:25.

KFNN 1510 Mesa seems not to want to be on the "illegal power alien"
list anymore. Each evening at 7:14:40, like clockwork, they disappear
in the 'Tuke and then seconds later come back--barely--sounding so
weak and far away. (Come to think of it, it is clockwork.)

And for Lumberyard 1440, as the sun sets later the sign-off occurs
earlier--the 7:15 target was met tonight at 7:11:39. If Paul Simon
were to write a song about KAZG's lamptimer, it would be called
Still Drifting After All These Years.

On our next visit to the Buckeye Wal-Mart, Nurse Jeff and I'll see if we can find a lamptimer NOT made in China and buy it for Gumpdusky. While most stations use a computer program to make power changes, we realize times are tough at the Londen Center and KAZG's C.E. is doin' the best he can with what he's got. At least Gumpdusky is savin' a couple hundred bucks each month keeping Lumberyard 14~Forty a daytimer!
