Legal Battle?

There have been two references here about a "legal battle" at the Holliday stations in Jackson. Come on scoopers, give us more. Is it programming, sales, management? <P ID="signature">______________
"Nothing but blues and Elvis, and somebody else's favorite song...."</P>

Uh....you could answer that question with one word. "YES" Oh yeah...you might want to add "owner" to the list. It's all about to hit the fan in Meridian from what I hear. I'll wait for the official announcement though. Don't want to muddy the waters with hearsay.

Really...what's the deal with the "owner"-is there some housecleaning coming up over there? What's the big announcement- Is Eddie finally gonna come to an MAB meeting again?

Made some calls to the seething metropolis of Meridian and now I know why nobody
can talk publically about the "legal battle" as they may end up as a witness or a defendant themselves how things shake out!Ironically there will be a lot of people who are less surprised about "what" it's about than why it hasn't happened already. Or maybe since it's so potentially embarrassing it will just go away.......

On a lighter note- I sure hate I missed that on-air divorce battle on US96 the other day. Imagine that, marital discord and country music on the same station. Just like a train wreck, terrible but you have to look.

Wow...getting your entertainment at the expense of the pain of others. As a friend and former co-worker of both Cory and Wendy, I can truly say that you are sick.

And no, I do not have any clue as to what is going on, and if I did, I sure wouldn't post it here for the vultures.

Now now, Chappy...I don't think he actually finds it entertaining. But you have to admit, it's never a good idea to "air" your dirty laundry as it came to pass during the morning show a couple of weeks back. There's a much better way to handle it. Some things should be kept private. If you're going to have a married couple on the air, you should encourage them to keep certain things at home. "The pain of others" became the pain of all of us and that wasn't necessary. Good radio requires good programming and that was a poor programming choice.

Thanks Radeeyohead, I honestly wasn't sure if it was a stunt or not. I mean you just don't hear people lose it on the air for real-for all I knew it was an example of "media verite". As for me being sick- You don't know me man so slow your roll. I was merely pointing out that when it rains it pours, and the wheels are coming off New South Radio as far as I can tell. Their country station in Meridian is kicking Clear Channels teeth in, but the catch is someone on that team along with a couple of other people are rumored to be suing the old man for something serious (You figure it out- you'll probably get it right by three guesses.) and he's not even maintaining an office in the building because of the issue. To top it off the plantiffs are still going in to work while the defendant is laying low. That's got to be a fun and creative work environment! Combine that with the fact that his Jackson country station finally has a real shot at CC's Miss 103 BUT they just got canned or quit while having a live domestic dispute/divorce ON THE AIR and that's the "Train wreck" I'm talking about. It's news son, at least for those in the business. I'm sorry your friends can't keep it together on the air- that's not me being sick, that's them "relating" to the audience. Hell one could argue that it's great radio and if they tried to work it out on the air the irony is that it would probably be compelling radio. As for the "vultures" on this board I can't help but note that you drilled right down to the post yourself so welcome to the club.
My prediction: The company will fight it to the end, then given their track record in court they'll lose. Some people never learn.

It's called sarcasm...try it sometime.

First off, don't call me son. Second, by saying "those of us in the business," you imply that I'm not in it...and again, you're wrong. Third, no I'm not one of the vultures of the board. We all know who they are and they type of poster that they are.

Again, it's called sarcasm. I was making a light-hearted post in response to you and you took it literally. I can't help that.

Geez...

Sorry MC, but "Son" wasn't my first choice anyway. As for sarcasm, I dunno- calling people "sick" and "vultures" seems like more of a personal slam than sarcasm. I think sarcasm also has an element of wit to it. For instance if I were to write "Matt is hilariously funny on the air and it's hard to tune away during his show" that would be sacasm because it states as fact something that is obviously in contention. You see there's a subtle difference to saying "You suck" and having a little fun with it. Personally I think you are an awesome radio personality and should be syndicated! (Hey, you're right this sarcasm thing is pretty fun!)

LOL...if I were a PD and was taking on MISS 103, I'd dedicate the theme from Brokeback Mountain to them.

Well, that's fine. You want to start a pissing match, go ahead. I'm not going to participate, however. If you want to take my post literally and get offended, that's fine. You want to take personal shots at me? Fine as well. You are certainly entitled to your opinion.

I made no personal slams.

Can't take the heat? Get out of the kitchen.

Trust me, I do not need or seek any affirmation from you. As for the heat in the kitchen- right back at ya. I'm glad you feel relevant enough to offer advice but just as an airline pilot doesn't need the stewardess to tell him how to fly the plane I don't need some glorified board-op who thinks he's a air personality giving me lessons in semantics or radio, either.(Not that that would apply here!) As for the "pissing match" I believe you whipped it out first, but I can report that not only is the water cold, it sure is deep.

You know what Wenny, here's the deal. I made an attempt at humor with you. You took it personally and have decided to attack me personally. I am an air personality, and whether you think so or not is YOUR opinion. I still get daily e-mails from my listeners in Jackson asking me when I'm coming back.

You can't take a joke...fine. You're the one who made this personal, not me.

If I offended you, I apologize. Geez...move on!

Sorry, didn't get the joke, still don't- but if you say so...BTW it was a "professional" not "personal" attack. I don't know you personally but by all accounts you're a nice guy- it just didn't come across that way when you called me "sick" and threw the "vulture" reference in there for good measure. That said, I'm moving on so the good people who read these posts don't have to get bored with something of only marginal interest to even us two. My apologies gentle readers, let this be a cautionary tale for all, including myself: Flaming posts are counter-productive, see how far off the original topic we've gotten?

Believe me, I didn't intend for us to get into this either. I really meant no harm. I probably could have phrased things a bit better so that the post didn't seem so abrasive. That's the trouble with written conversation on message boards...sometimes things get misconstrued.

No harm, no foul. Actually, after all of the stress I'm going through personally right now, a good healthy flame war was just the remedy.

Now, where do we meet for beer? lol

IS THIS LEGAL BATTLE A "FAIRYTALE"? WE HAVE HAD THAT RUMOR FLOATING UP HERE IN THE NORTH FOR AWHILE.
