Who picked up the cool calls of WPLA, formerly Planet Radio in Jacksonville?

WPLA(AM) 1670 Dry Branch (Atlanta), Georgia; also a Clear Channel station licensed to Clear Channel subsidiary AMFM Radio Licenses, LLC.

The WPLA calls had some heritage down here once, as well. On the AM side it was on 1570 for about 5 yrs and on 910 for another 35 years or so.

I can't believe nobody included WHLY.......Y106! It's now being used in South Bend Indiana for a Catholic radio station at AM1580

Let's not forget WRKT & WKKO>>>>

I wish I could sometimes....Can you give me an update Dave, of what's going on in Brevard County Radio. I'll be in Cocoa Beach first part of March for the Mosquito beaters reunion...group of orginal people from that area!

Big Ape, long time no hear, on Brevard I see were WCKS CK-101 wasn't mentioned so I'll throw that one in.

They're are still a couple of stations that you'd remember that are still operating, WMEL in Melbourne, and the old WMMB and their operating on two frequency's 1240 and 1350AM.

Ok FM's two that come to mind, 98.5FM WSBH called "The Beach" the station is located off of Babcock Street, in Melbourne, they sound great for a small KW station, a 60's 70's and 80's mix, live in the morning and voice tracked the rest of the day, the morning guy and station PD is Ray Michael's, Ray if you recall was the mid-day guy who worked for something like 14 year's at Orlando's WOCL "Cool 105.9" so he's running the show somewhat. WSBH has maybe been on-air the last couple of 3 or 4 year's that I know of anyway.

Since we're dropping old time name's here, another one I think you'll remember and still working in Brevard County "Mike Lowe" I've known Mike for year's and when he had worked at CK, RKT and WRMF as PD when they were still Titusville. Mike is now PD and doing mornings at WLRQ "Lite Rock 99.3" Called "Mike and Mindy in the Mornings" Lite I think belongs to Clear Channel with a little cluster they've got going on. So there you have it, there are some other up start's on FM that I pay little or no attention to out of Brevard, with various different type's of format's all competing for that little piece of the left-over slice of pie to find nothing more then crumb's. I assure you Their not WKKO, WRKT, WCKS, or WRMF of year's past, and the day's of live-on-air talent's is all but history, and this about sum's up Brevard County radio!

Thanks so much for that! Yeah, I know all those guys but they probably have to have Food Stamps and stuff to work at those stations.. Maybe Love and You and a couple can get together when and if I get to the "Skeeter Beater Reunion"!!

There is a FM station out of Hondo Tx with KMFR call letters. They have a funny jingle stateing "that the calling letters stand for M mighty.. F fine...R rock what did you think they stood for?" Always brings a smile.
