Leslie Marshall gone...again

Ideas for the Lake

Hot Talk (and do it right this time) or Disney?

Nicht! Or Is That Niche?

Entercom is not going to do anything with The Lake that would impact the ratings of their AM properties. Hot Talk, Sports Talk, and any other talk are out. Disney isn't going to do any better than the current programming, and won't bring in an audience that's more attractive to advertisers.

The main reason Entercom spent big dollars to acquire 107.7 was to protect Kiss, and/or the rest of their properties. If the stations breaks even, it's a winner for them. If it doesn't lose too much money, it's still a winner for them.

The other intent of The Lake was to shave a couple shares off 97-Rock as a response to Citadel's deal with the Canadian boys and their attack on Kiss. If they tweaked the programming to drop some of the more annoying aspects (chirping crickets, etc.), and freed up the jocks a little, they might be more successful. As it is, they have a niche, which about all you can expect with their signal.

Re: On WWKB

They've made improvements by solidifying the "progressive" stance of the station bringing in Randi Rhodes, who's every bit as shrill and even more of a harpy that Leslie Marshall. The difference is, Rhodes knows how to do talk radio, has a national platform, has heritage within the format having thrashed Rush in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale and she has more knowledge in her pinky than Marshall has in her skull.

Considering her show really does sound like a collection of all the worst talkshow host habits (crutches, cliches, etc.), it is amazing that she continues to get hired. Is there really that much a shortage of female talent?

Radio disney, to draw the younger crowd, so they'll grow to like WKSE, then grow up to switch over to Star...but I wouldn't bank on even a youngster wanting to listen to AM today.
So then, Radio Disney should perhaps replace the lake...?
Or would RD take too much away from WKSE?
