DE's brother flipped a station while the Macarena craze was sweeping the nation. So, prior to the station's flip, they stunted "All Macarena" for a few days, complete with imaging, and produced liners. It actually sounded pretty good.
It got significant media play, even well outside the market. He was called at home by NHK, the Japanese network, about it. His answer, "Well, The Macarena is the number one song in the world. By playing ONLY it, we can't help but be the number one station on Earth."
Of course, Clear Channel owns that station now (I'm thinking it was Paxson while this was happening), so nothing as imaginative as that will happen there again. It might cost money, after all.
But, as has been pointed out, listeners don't care about stunting; in fact, it may just confuse them. But, it amuzes us, and that's what's important, right?
