Lex & Terry Gone From KEGL

Barely, the KLIF 570 online feed is horrible. A commercial will start, and after 5 seconds it will cut off & another one abruptly starts. Some are low volume & others are not. Sometimes if you're lucky you get the news at the top of the hour, other times you get 10 solid minutes of commercials. And most of those are a spot plugging the new FM KLIF, with that stupid Miley Cyrus screech song.

Somebody's asleep at the wheel over there. So much for "Radio-Active."
 
Can't say I'll miss 'em. They suck. Always have and always will. Good talent CAN work on music stations but it has to be entertaining and compelling. I'd prefer it be local but Stern once proved even national jocks can succeed if their content is worth listening to.
 
There show was much better in florida, when they syndicated it, I kinda liked it. Once they moved to dallas the show was not the same for whatever reason, I haven't listened to the eagle in the morning drive since shortly after L&T took the spot. I hope they will play music in the morning (theres no rock station in the area that plays music during the morning drive anymore, its all crappy talk shows) and have russ martin take the afternoon drive slot.

The "more music int he morning" is a good bet. Not only does nobody do that...but it's much cheaper. And NO WAY IN HADES Russ comes back. #1 CC won't pay out the ass for Russ..and #2...CBS is STILL paying out the ass for Russ.

Ya I know, I sure wish he would come back somewhere in the afternoon. Sans a nascar race or football game I bet I have not listened to 105.3 for more than 30 seconds since they went sports talk, some of those shows are painful to listen too.

I'm obviously not in a position to make a lot of public comments. We're obviously disappointed, me personally because Dallas is my hometown, but what happened to the show had very little to do with pure performance and a while lot to do with finances and the fact that L&T's contract with CC is up in Oct.

Radio is a different beast today, especially within this company. If you've been paying attention radio is now littered with big brand talk shows either losing their place or having to take massive pay cuts. Good or bad, it is the state of the industry, for today.

There's always a spin, right?

Truth is, there is plenty of money available and new contracts are being signed with talent that actually performs in the ratings - especially in the Top 10 markets. Performance would have solved all the things you list as issues.

The reality is, L&T actually have the ability to win - which is very unfortunate, as many others out there do not. However, despite every attempt various people have made to help them develop their show into a long term winning franchise, they surround themselves enablers, who spin everything as to why things don't work - and so they have paid no attention to those that have tried to help them for years.

And now they have lost their only 2 Top 25 markets. One can only wonder if they will have any markets in the Top 100 by the end of 2010 when their CC Contract expires.

A very sad situation, but in the end, if L&T want to know where their problem starts, they need only look in the mirror.
 
i'm sure it's been said before but i'll say it again -- the top 5 market can't put their own half decent morning show together? dallas sucks.

Poor Peter, He is once again talking out of his butthole...........I listened to Lex & Terry every single day since they've been in Dallas. I've enjoyed a lot of the show and its bits. But, Lately its been pretty bad. With bits like Ask a hooker, Homeless comic and meal or no meal. What can I say? Those were fun the first time. I think i've heard all three of them at least 3 times in the last 2 months......

I know that some people like to think about an Obama Socialist utopia. But I don't want it hear it out of either Lex or Terry. They clearly have no freaking clue what the hell they are talking about.....

I found it rather annoying that Peter said the show is staying, and the station is testing out music. I think i heard out of somebody that they will return to the entire 4 hour slot after the ratings go back up. I may not be a radio genius. But, How exactly do your ratings improve if you are off the air more? Clear Channel Dallas knew they were not going to keep Lex and Terry. So instead of ripping them off the air. They cut a little and let it bleed......

I really doubt that Lex and Terry would go over to the fan. If that station goes back to normal talk maybe...I'd like to see Russ back on over there...I doubt that after what they did....

Brown is voted in to Uber Dem. Senator Kennedy's "seat" in Mass. ....

and Lex & Terry are Gone....

Saw this on Philpot's blog from the Star-Telegram...

Because I know that people will start wondering about Russ Martin, who after all used to do mornings on KEGL, I asked Freeman about him and Freeman replied via e-mail: "Any answer is going to create speculation." Including, you know, that answer.

In fact, in radio, merely breathing can create speculation. It may be the most rumor-generating business in existence. But I just traded some e-mails with Martin.

Me: KEGL drops ‘Lex & Terry.” Any chance they’re talking to you?

Martin: Why ... I dunno.

Me: My ... aren't you coy?

Martin: Oh don't be goofy. My [CBS] contract doesn't allow me to talk to anyone. [This would be so much better if I had audio of Russ. Oh, well.]
