Leykis calls for one last Flash Friday

After reading an article that is published in the L.A. Times today quoting the publisher of Talkers magazine, I don't think anything good of him. He has a bias against KLSX and doesn't have a clue about what would work on talkradio in Los Angeles. :D

I just gotta say one more thing and then I won't touch this topic anymore. :D So let me get this straight... Your saying the publisher of one of the leading publications in the radio broadcasting industry doesn't know what he is talking about, but some guy on a message board does? CBS should hire you tomorrow my friend. What are you waiting for? Go apply! ;D
Prove to me highbrow, intellectual talk, which is what he is calling for, would work here. Not a chance. Anyone who says so is an idiot. He's an idiot.

Just because you have a job with an important job title attached to it doesn't mean you're smart. Lets name all the program directors who've been through Los Angeles in the last few years...most of them were not qualified to program in Los Angeles. Some were not qualified to even be in radio.

Some of us on this board have called what was going to be a disaster the minute the station hit the air. Here's two of those I called, Movin and The Sound.

I wouldn't say that in about a week, people will forget the show because there are still people here in Az that are upset about 101.5 dropping the talk format to become 101.5 JamZ over the summer 0f '07 and are wishing for the new 101.5 to fail. All I have to say is if the rhythmic 101.5 JamZ flips or fails, then that's it. I'm probably going to have to move because I'm not one who can say I just wont listen to the radio. Where I'll move to? I don't know. My aunt has been able to survive many years in California, so I'm guessing the earthquakes must not be as bad. Maybe I'll lose a bit of sleep worrying about the possibility of an overnight earthquake, but the beauty of it is while I'm awake worrying, I'll have some better stations to listen to.

Anyway, Amp seems like it will do fine. It's an unusual name for a station, but it sounds like it should be ok. All this Amp talk struck me by surprise - before yesterday, I never even knew 97.1 existed out there, but then again, there are probably quite a bit of frequencies I don't know because I never took time to pay attention to them.

The fame and respect of his peers. That's questionable.

as you say in multiple posts, "don't take this personally"...how would you know?
you are not a peer of Leykis. or Stern, Elder, Maddow, Rhodes, et al.
I'm not either, as I've never done talk.

and before your trash KLSX's numbers...perhaps you should look at them first.
this was a financial move by CBS to stop paying (eventually) a full roster of morning show salaries.
plus, it doesn't help to have numbers if your AEs can't sell them.

;D On Monday that "nobody" Rachel Maddow will be broadcasting from the # 1 market in the country for MSNBC while Tom Leykis is planting grapes in the Santa Ynez Valley. I'd say the latter is the nobody. I'm done with this topic. I proved my point. ;D
This is Prob the best post. Im not from LA actually Dallas, We were the last Major Syndication for Leykis, when The local channel here flipped to all sports, LEykis was out. It was a long time coming, i love how he berated people on his show, uneducated, low income. He made his money and was very succesful at it, he will prob live very comfortably, but this is prob the end of the road. Good Bye TOM.
