Lies and a Loosing Operation

I really wish I could claim credit for this, but I can't! There is an EXCELLENT letter to the editor in the August 12, 2009 edition of Radio World, page 32 by a reader from Ohio.
Check it out and why not discuss it here.

In brief it covers...

***a 15% increase in rates allegedly due to the royalty matter when the increase in royalty fees is only one half of one percent.

***broken promises to the FCC about fee increases but increased fees for additional radios, elimination of free on line access.

***broken promises for ala carte channels.

***broken promises about four additional channels for free within 90 days of take over.

***reduction of playlists by about 75%.

Read it for yourself!

But my comments: It was on this website a few months ago it was disclosed "And Its Lying Time Again" Melvin was paid $120 million! This is obviously a loosing operation.
Where in the hell is the Board of Directors?????

As an XM listener I am very unhappy with what's happened to the service since Mel took over.

I called 5 months ago to cancel my second unit. Told them I was unhappy with the price increase and the changes. They offered me 5 months for 20 bucks. It expired August 4. They billed me 30 bucks for 3 months. I called to cancel, they gave me another 5 months for 20 bucks. I asked them about the changes and the broken promises but it was obvious they really didn't care. Sad.. Still waiting for the credit to appear on my credit card account.

They definitely don't care.

In all honesty what can a CSR do? They don't make the decisions, they just apply the rules given them. The problems start with Mel and his chosen circle. The only way I could get my streaming back (lifetime sub) was to attack the problem at the top. The only place higher than Mel is the FCC and Congress. Address your concerns there. Remember that the makeup of the FCC is now different than the FCC that allowed the merger. Griping here is just that and nothing else.

Im sorry you let them take advantage of you and con you into staying and paying for thier crappy service....

Mel is a complete dickweed who was jealous that XM was 1000% better than his piece of crap and decided to destroy them both BEFORE HE RETIRED

It does look that way.

I just got my notice today that they will increase my rates because of music rights fees.
Bye XM!

That's where I think they screwed up big time. They should've sent every subscriber an email at least 4 weeks before the music rights fees went into effect July 29th. The email should've notified the subscriber that there would be these fees when their subscription renews, but they could avoid these fees if they extend their subscriptions before July 29, and list what those options were. Instead, what they're doing is notifying subscribers of these fees as their subscriptions are about to renew and there's nothing the subscribers can do at this point, but either pay the fee or cancel their subscription.

Sure, if a person went to message forums like this to find out about these fees, but the percentage of subscribers that read online satellite radio forums is miniscule. Or, a subscriber could've gone to the XM or Sirius websites and type in "royalty fees", but how many would think to do that, if they're unaware of their being a fee in the first place? I'm sure there's a lot of subscribers being caught by surprise by these emails coming out now as their subscriptions are about to renew.

What they should be doing is this--you got your email about the fees. You should be allowed from the time you got that email about the fees until the time your subscription renews to call into XM and extend your subscription for however long you're comfortable with, as long as it's for at least a year, and you won't be hit with the music rights fee. If you don't call during that time frame, and your subscription automatically renews, fine, then I could see them hitting you with the music rights fee. But at least give a subscriber a chance to avoid those fees, instead of catching the subscriber by surprise.

Oh good grief. We get it: A lot of people don't like Sirius-XM. Fine, don't like them... we get it. You can stop now.

I rarely read this board anymore because of all the "XM SUCKS!" crap. I see nothing wrong with the service, in fact I enjoy it a great deal. Just because the 60's channel doesn't play enough obscure Beatles songs or some has-been jock is no longer hosting a show doesn't mean that they suck. XM is great for people like me who lives in rural areas and basically have only any variation of country or AC to choose from when it comes to OTA stations.

In short: Get a life and let go of whatever XM hate you have. Trust me, there are MUCH bigger issues out there.

Hey, big jo-nathan. Try getting a refund. If you do have a great relatioship with customer, try to get my refund will you.......Cause I'm...........STILL WAITING

About 3 weeks ago, I called in to cancel two of my radios, one had self destructed, and the other was in a cost reduction effort. The CSR offered me a reduction in price for 3 or 6 months to keep those two radios. I declined. Then I was offered a replacement reciever for the one that self destructed and I would only have to pay for the shipping. I declined again. then I was offered free shipping. I finally decided, what the heck and took the offer.

I have checked my account and they have given me credit and the reduced price, but no replacemtn radio has arrived.

I am going to call about that, but it seems that the left hand has no ides what the right hand is doing.

If they are going to give these reductions out like spring water, why not just give them across the board and get it over with instead of maiking customers mad?
