Likelihood of The View cancellation?

i'm surprised that The View has not yet be canceled in the 2 years since this thread was started. and don't be surprise if ABC refuses to kill this show, i wouldn't be surprise if ABC blows up "Live with Kelly" and move Kelly Ripa to The View. by the way, it's just my opinion, as i don't work for ABC or the Walt Disney Company or any other broadcast company in either TV or Radio.

There's no reason to be surprised. The numbers are good enough to warrant continuation. When they're not, it goes away, just like any show. A group of mostly, if not exclusively, people who aren't in the target audience bemoaning the show on a message board isn't an accurate reflection of how it's performing.

As for "blowing up" (really?) Live, there's also zero reason to do so. Two of Disney's divisions are making nice chunks of change with those shows. Why would Disney, not ABC, choose not to keep both revenue streams?

Raven-Symone announced that she would be leaving The View by the end of the year. I thought she brought youth to the panel. I wonder who will replace her?

'Cause if they blow it up, they've got nothing to replace it with. And they're probably not eager to give another hour back to the stations.

Raven-Symone has already left The View, and was replaced by Jehidila Bila. Paula Faris has also left the show, but I don't know who replaced her.

Well...

Raven was on Thursday 27 October. That's when she announced that she was leaving. Jedediah Bila has been on since September. Paula Faris is still on the show. Please check the official website:

‘The View’ Losing Candace Cameron Bure

It’s been more than a month since anyone has announced she was leaving The View. Candace Cameron Bure, returning to the show after a noticeable absence, fixed that this morning, revealing she’s following Raven-Symoné, who made that October announcement, out the door.

“I’m happy to be back,” Bure said of her return, then said she’s leaving. And yes, she said “bittersweet.”

Bure called it a “tough” decision, based on the success of her other, pre-View commitments, to Netflix’s Full House reboot Fuller House, and to the Hallmark Channel.

The bi-coastal commute has been “tough on me and hard for my family,” Bure said, then thanked various members of the daytime talker’s cast and crew.

I only see it when it happens to be on somewhere I happen to be, but from that limited sample, it's clear to me that Candace Bure and Jedidiah Bila are the real talent of that show and half of that is leaving. I think the days of the show are numbered.

Sean Hannity said he may consider appearing on the show in response to an invitation from Jedidiah Bila. If that happens, I may actually watch that episode!

The View is more successful than whatever ABC ran in the 11am slot for years prior to it (many of its recent predecessors were pre-empted in several markets)

Yes. In Connecticut WTNH ran the short lived Carnie Wilson talk show and then the Rosie O'Donnell talk show in the 11AM times-slot sending "Caryl and Marilyn" which ABC was running at 11AM over to sister station WB-59. Rosie moved to NBC 30 at 5PM when The View debuted. When NBC 30 launched a 5PM newscast Rosie moved to 4PM.

I think it's time to pull the plug on The View. On Facebook they announced The View vs. The Chew Cook off (which is airing on The View today 4/10/17) and virtually all the comments were negative including boycotting The Chew, Boycotting ABC, and The Chew personalities appearing on The View will cause the ratings of The Chew to Drop and you might as well cancel The Chew.

It might be good to cancel it, but I suspect the show still makes money for ABC and they don't have something better to replace it (as hard as that may be to believe). When Barbara Walters left, it likely removed a large salary commitment from the show allowing it to remain financially viable. They did add Jedidiah Bila and she's been pretty good IMO

Or drop both shows at the same time.

i wonder how many of those who wanted to Boycott The Chew or ABC or the personalities of The Chew due to this are Trumpers (Trump Supporters) who criticized The View or ABC News for making "Fake News" or supporting who they refer to as "Crooked Hilary" during the 2016 election.

Perhaps network daytime needs a re-definition. What works? What doesn't? Where is it best to let affiliates have more time to run syndicated programming? What network programs are still strong? What game shows are going to still gain ratings? What soaps are popular enough to keep going? I think we are entering into a whole new era in daytime. Frankly, I would only vote for TPIR as surviving, but they have to understand that their future is only likely in syndication at some point. On the other hand, celebrity/reality talk can only go so far. There are already too many of these type of shows. Maybe we go back to daytime network affiliate movies. Like "The Big Money Movie", etc. I think we may revert back to that era after Ellen and Dr. Phil end...which perhaps isn't that far off.
