I'm all for fixing up AM 940..its (seemingly) been through hell and gone.
It's typical of an AM that was never given any purpose to be on the air other than to hang on to the license to keep someone from competing with them. Jamz could have succeeded had someone seriously marketed the station and not used it for what they thought people liked.
I remember when 940 was spoken about in markets outside of Lima. Even in Toledo radio the name WCIT was mentioned. I helped their Chief Engineer in the 80s with their transmitter (as I knew the MW1A inside and out), and sadly the technical aspects of the station are dismal at best, today. It's terrible when my Part 15 that I use to listen to my tunes in the garage sounds better than a licensed station (technically and format). So much potential being wasted.

Did Koz retire from WLIO-TV before Joe Downs took over? I noticed that his "Beat the Koz" summer segment on the 6pm newscast is still on. Koz is still too young to retire yet...and he's still got it....hate to see him leave WLIO.
Koz is younger than I. I'm guessing he is 50 at best. Yeah, he was too young to leave, and a lot of us hated to see Vince go. He gave plenty of notice, allowing the station to hire Joe. I think Joe brings a new face and way of doing things. Still, Vince's retirement was "premature" in my opinion, but I know his reasons and he is correct in his choice. I also know he is a lot happier where he is. It's hard for a lot of people in this business to understand... but sometimes money is not the root of happiness. You have to
like what you do.
The reason "Beat the Koz" is still on is because it's a contracted feature with a client. I don't know if it will be on next season or not.

"The Fox" classic rock format now on WBUK....so why is WPFX off the air after that haphazard format flip? Is BAS putting it up on the sale block already or are they giving the license back to the FCC?
Dunno. I really wish I could get my hands on that station. Ottawa is good market for a local station, and it has not been served realistically since Tripplett days. It has the potential, but I suspect someone will get it and run it as another rim-shot or repeater, or "what works in San Antonio works in Ottawa".
