Lima book today...

Hello:

I'm hearing that the Lima book is coming out today. Any predictions from anyone at this point yet?

...just curious....

just venturing a guess...not a lot of change from last book:

T-102
WILD 93.9
FROGGY
WIMA-AM
X107.5
MIX 103

again, just a guess

Top Ten (12+) Spring 2008 are as follows:

WIMT-FM 13.6 (CC)
WIMA-AM 7.4 (CC)
WLWD-FM 7.4 (CC)
WMLX-FM 7.4 (CC)
WEGE-FM 6.2 (Maverick)
WFGF-FM 6.2 (Maverick)
WZRX-FM 6.2 (CC)
WWSR-FM 5.6 (Maverick)
WDOH-FM 3.7 (Maverick)
WBYR-FM 3.1 (Federated) *WLW also had a 3.1 12+ in Lima*

The breakdowns come later today.

WOW!
...congratulations to Brian Steel for bringing Eagle into the for-front there. Also, congrats to Kennedy for the jump in numbers with Star and 'DOH.

...and even though they are not my employer anymore, I still have a place in my heart for 'IMA since I spent close to three and a half years of my life there and I did truly learn A LOT.
Congratulations to them on their numbers as well...

What happened to 940 WZOQ? I wonder if they shouldn't drop sports and go oldies.

Good question, but don't they have a lot tied up in local programming or staff with sports? They have the Indians right?

How about Sports/Oldies

Run ESPN Programming in morning drive, then go Oldies during the day, Sports in afternoons and evenings.
Weekends you run the sports programming when necessary then flip back over to Oldies?

Hmm. Kind of sounds like WKSD in Paulding/Van Wert. Oldies in the daytime, ESPN after 7. That's a pretty neat idea kentuckymedia, I would listen to a station like that.

940 having troubles again? I'll tune in next time I'm driving thru Lima in a couple of weeks. Is Koz still doing his saturday morning show there?

Should 940 switch to oldies I don't know if they can go back to the original WCIT-AM callsign or not.(currently used on an FM in Trout Run PA...WLSR-FM's calls are now in Galesburg,IL) Still... "Great 94 Oldies" sounds "great" to me....with an audiostream, live jocks and the original jingles.

Since they already have the WZOQ calls, they could get an old Jams Jingles package making it "SUPER HITS 940- ZOQ". Use True Oldies Sat channel.

Keep Koze, and the local talk show. Get out into the community and have some fun!

6-9 Mike and Mike in the morning
9-3 Superhits of the 60's and 70's
3-6 Local Talk Show
6-Sundown Local Sports/Oldies Music

I noticed that WMLX had a good book. Who is on the air? As for WLWD, it seems their problem was they were so focused on sounding like WWSR that they lost their audience (smooth move). WDOH had a good book and so did WZRX. Thats about all I can tell.

WILD 939 seems more Rhythmic than ever. However they did try to sound a bit mainstream in the very beginning. Well, as of right now they look to be focused on Rhythmic AC. Sounds a lot better. Old school jams mixed in with the current.

Da Koz is in the house on Saturday.

I wonder if they are having transmitter problems. Their signal sounds sort of funny, and wide as heck. They seem to be splattering up to 980. Are they still running C-Quam on the air, or did that all disappear when AM Stereo disappeared.

I thought you were referring to Dave Koz, but I see what you mean. Isn't Dave Koz on WDSJ in Dayton? His website says you can now hear him on-line at www.literock1071.com too

I still think that Oldies/Sports on WLJM-AM would be great!

Personally.... I would try to drag back the WCIT calls, turn it oldies with a good sports mix, and do local sports. Honest to God, I can't find anyone in town that listens.

The other issue is that the AM site is in a total state of disrepair. It would take some money to get that in shape.

All possible, would cost some capital, but it would resurrect the dead.

It would be great to see this happen. Especially with WBUK flipping to Classic Rock. You could gain footing in the female demographic and still keep your bulk male audience.

Call it "Radio Lima - 940 WCIT". Pick up a small jingle package from TM Jones, and still air your ESPN rights so they dont get stolen.

I'm all for fixing up AM 940..its (seemingly) been through hell and gone. I grew up with the old Top 40 WCIT "Great 94" in the early 70s,then automation ruined it,then standards,oldies,news/talk and then the deliberate downgrade and premeditated demise of R&B "940 JAMZ." At least Koz is still on the air there with his humour and wit....still it leaves a couple of questions:

Did Koz retire from WLIO-TV before Joe Downs took over? I noticed that his "Beat the Koz" summer segment on the 6pm newscast is still on. Koz is still too young to retire yet...and he's still got it....hate to see him leave WLIO.

"The Fox" classic rock format now on WBUK....so why is WPFX off the air after that haphazard format flip? Is BAS putting it up on the sale block already or are they giving the license back to the FCC?

Yo Kirkie!

Check the recent posts on "WPFX-FM" and you'll find your answer

It's typical of an AM that was never given any purpose to be on the air other than to hang on to the license to keep someone from competing with them. Jamz could have succeeded had someone seriously marketed the station and not used it for what they thought people liked.

I remember when 940 was spoken about in markets outside of Lima. Even in Toledo radio the name WCIT was mentioned. I helped their Chief Engineer in the 80s with their transmitter (as I knew the MW1A inside and out), and sadly the technical aspects of the station are dismal at best, today. It's terrible when my Part 15 that I use to listen to my tunes in the garage sounds better than a licensed station (technically and format). So much potential being wasted.

Koz is younger than I. I'm guessing he is 50 at best. Yeah, he was too young to leave, and a lot of us hated to see Vince go. He gave plenty of notice, allowing the station to hire Joe. I think Joe brings a new face and way of doing things. Still, Vince's retirement was "premature" in my opinion, but I know his reasons and he is correct in his choice. I also know he is a lot happier where he is. It's hard for a lot of people in this business to understand... but sometimes money is not the root of happiness. You have to like what you do.

The reason "Beat the Koz" is still on is because it's a contracted feature with a client. I don't know if it will be on next season or not.

Dunno. I really wish I could get my hands on that station. Ottawa is good market for a local station, and it has not been served realistically since Tripplett days. It has the potential, but I suspect someone will get it and run it as another rim-shot or repeater, or "what works in San Antonio works in Ottawa".
