LImbaugh at 910?

R-I is reporting that a promo for KKSF-AM 910, after mentioning the transplanted KGO hosts, is saying, "plus America's Anchorman" (with no other description). For those who don't know, that's Premiere's ad line for Rush Limbaugh, along with the slogan "America Trusts Rush":

Does anyone know for sure that KSFO's contract for Limbaugh is coming to an end? Right now, KKSF is otherwise saying "to be announced Jan. 2" for 9 a.m. to noon--the feed time for Limbaugh. If this is true, what is KSFO going to do to replace their main star?

I have no idea about the Rush deal, but he is known as "America's Anchorman".

I have heard Tom Sullivan mention he's on KNEW starting Jan. 3rd.

Yes, Armstrong and Getty's Twitter just announced it: https://twitter.com/#!/AandGShow

Ok. Here's the deal. In '12 we're on 6-9 on the new KKSF NewsTalk 910. "talent on loan from god" has joined our station and starts at 9am

Tom Sullivan I heard of him on KFBK 1530 AM when KCBS Reporter Chris Felipe worked there.

Wow! It looks like AM 910 is going to be a force to be reckon with. I would have never guessed that it would happen. 10 years ago, I would have laughed about the prospect of two of KGO's prime talk show hosts as well as Rush Limbaugh going to AM 910.

G. Gordon Liddy, If He Is Still Being Offered On Syndication. LOL!!!! :D

I heard a totally unsubstantiated rumor that Len would never go on air at a station that carried Rush. Given the completely reliable nature of this rumor, I wonder if Len was told about this plan before he signed with 910.

Tom is still heard on KFBK by the Fox News Talk syndication, much like Rush remained on KFBK when he went national. Former KFBKer Spencer Hughes, now with Fox News Talk's satellite channel, fills in for Tom from time to time.

Chris Filippi, by the way.

Hughes is on KGO now. ksfo is really going to 2nd level synditalkers except for Hannity, if one would consider him 1st tier

I'm not sure the new KGO weekend talk schedule is set in stone, but yes, Spencer Hughes is one host who's been heard. Fox News Talk is his "day job".

You are correct sir! :)

From what I understand, Tom Sullivan started as the financial report guy on KFBK. His show tends to be less "party line" than Rush.

Spencer Hughes is great. He talks about more than just politics. If I'm not mistaken, he is still based in Sacramento. Unlike most hosts, he responds to facebook posts, etc.

As you said, Tom and Spencer are Fox News Talk hosts. Other Fox syndication hosts usually fill-in. Today's Tom Sullivan fill-in, and others, are pretty good...except Leslie Gold. Sorry, I find her to be very boring.

Is Chris related by chance to former KOVR-TV Reporter, Charlotte Filippi?

Yes, Tom did business reports on KFBK right up until he left for Fox and NYC, and was the business editor of NBC affiliate KCRA/3. Former KCRA anchor Kelly Brothers does the business reports on KFBK now (and I believe also on ABC affiliate KXTV/10).

I think the Limbaugh switch is a done deal. Hopefully they won't bring back Lee Rodgers or Geoff Metcalf.

As much as I hate to say it, it would be the smartest move they could make.

Picking up Tillem and Burns gives an indication that CC is now serious about building a real Talk Station. Seeing as they are "Cheap" Channel, any hope that 910 would be mostly live and local is a joke, and as far as I know, Limbaugh is till the hottest talk radio property around, so having Rush would be the equivalent to putting the milk in the back of the supermarket. Listeners will come to hear Rush, and hopefully stay for some of the other programming.

Many years ago, one of the KRAK DJs (back when they were a 50 Kw Country powerhouse) bragged that he would never lower himself to work at a 5 Kw "peanut whistle" station.

Guess where he ended up when 1140 changed format a few years later and KRAK Country moved to the peanut whistle 1470 frequency?

It's amazing how opinions can change when you're staring at unemployment.

I seriously doubt that Len Tillem rejected working for KSCO over the Rush Limbaugh issue. It's likely that he has a big disagreement about how MZ runs KSCO. And looking at it right now, MZ will suddenly dump his local morning programming in order to pick up a couple KGO celebrities. What happens if they KGO people don't make his station any better in a couple books? Does he suddenly spin around the replace them with something else? Turnstyle programming does not succeed. There must be longterm consistency. I think that may be what Len is more concerned about.

Len is not exactly unemployed, either.

If Spencer Hughes stays at KGO part time, or goes moreso to KSFO (as he has in the past,) I'm betting his Fox News Radio days as fill-in for Tom Sullivan are not going to happen in San Francisco.

I remember Oprah labeled Jon Stewart as "America's Anchorman" when he went on the now defunct Oprah show. But I thought America's Anchorman is reserved for Peter Jennings, Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow and Jim Leaher.
