I swear if all this build up is about Nolan Ryan and Ticketstock I'm turning to ESPN out of spite.

It was about Nolan and ticketstock. If you stuck around, you would've heard that the hardline is going to talk about Gregg Williams at 5:15p today. Norm used Gregg's name specifically.

Stay tuned.

It'll prolly be about him moving on to another market...whos going to fill his XXXXL chair he's leaving behind?

How about a guy like Scott Ferrall from Sirius Satellite Radio and SNY in New York who actually knows something about sports, can effectively communicate and would be a big improvement over any of the local, Dallas putz collection.

Hahahahahahahahahaha

I was working at KLIF when they brought his national show on the station. Matter of fact I was on the board when they debuted the show. Man the phones lit up like Christmas trees. I had so many "What the hell is this crap" calls that I had to take the phone off the hook. That show was a disaster from day one. It definately did not fit KLIF at that time, nor will Scott ever be a good talk show host.

Scott has a schtick that works with the rocker crowd on Sirius, hence why he's on howard 101. I've not a big fan of the guy even when they ran his show on Ticket late nights.

I guess we finally know the fate of the Hardline.... I paste below what you get when you click on their link at the Ticket site. As well, there are no longer any Greggo photos to be found on the site (which wasn't the case yesterday).

The Hardline - 3pm to 7pm
Mike Rhyner & Corby Davidson

Could just be a stop gap until they decide what they want to do. Remember before they went on vacation Corby said that he "knows his place." So I would think that says that he didn't want to be the co-host with Rhyner. But we'll see, you never know with those boys....

I have a feeling they'll staff someone else, as corby isnt the first choice for a replacement.

Rhyner just said (concerning Greggo):

"I was hoping I could get to the end of the line with him . . ."
Is that some kind of double entendre ? ? 8)
Probably not. My wife and I were discussing it, as we both listen (and she's listened to him back to his Zoo Days) that RHyner's in his late 50's. Assuming he's made some money and saved some up, he could probably retire if he wanted at 62. We both thought that comment was more about being able to ride out the "Old" Hardline for another 4-6 years.

There's probably a big difference in that, and being Bob and Dan, let's say, 2 guys in their 30's (Guessing)...You might not be able to picture yourself working with the same guy for 30 years, but half a dozen? Very doable if someone doesn't screw it up.

And that kind of segues into the other thing we talked about- they've been together for nearly 14 years. Since radio careers are like dog years***That is one HECK of a long time...

***(as in a year in radio is like 7 at a normal job, and where you used to hear about people working for the same company for 50 years and retiring with a gold watch, your average radio company changes hands once every couple of years, so longevity with a station or an employer is a rarity, rather than the norm)

OGW and Greggo had a decent on-air ride and I was surprised how long it lasted, considering theres been this "history" of off-air bickering and other BS. Alot of times in this business, talent and shows are like cheap toliet paper, its holds up but it eventually tears apart when you put enough force to it.

Rhyner is nearing retirement age and probably will have a rotating door of co-hosts until he decides to call it a day with "The Hardline" here in a few years. Corby is the first and wont certainly be the last.....

The one thing dead Rhyner and Greggo had in common was a knowledge and love for baseball and I will miss hearing them go around the league.

In all seriousness, I cringe every time Rhyner brings up the Great Game because Danny and Corby and whoever else they throw in there can't begin to equate the true passion those two had during the real "Diamond Talk" days.

Man, I miss that.

OH, anyone have the podcast of Mike's retort to the press release?

I am trademarking the term "Hardline 2.0".

Maybe you could buy the domain and then sell it back to Rhyner for say, a pack of Cools and some Ticketstock seats. ;D

Shouldn't you be more concerned with getting Bob and Dan's forum up and running?
