All that poorly written blog post clarified was that KISS wouldn't be flipping to a TOP 40 station not that it would never flip. If you think KISS is going to stay on the same tracks they're on now but just with the addition of a new syndicated morning show you're terribly mistaken.

Besides all of this informed expert opinioning, guesstimating and prophisizing as to what will fill the void left by the old morning show's cancellation, has anyone bothered to find out what Lisle and Hahn are doing now? How do they feel, what is their side of the story?

I'm guessing that part of their departure package including signing a non-disclosure agreement of some type... i.e. they're not allowed to talk about it.

First off, nice blog. I always find your blogs/articles interesting and full of information.

As for KISS not flipping/tweaking. This is same b/s Virgil said about X106.7 when it flipped to World Class Rock. I don't exactly remember word for word but it basically, "World Class Rock is here to stay"....Umm, 7 months later X106.7-Triple A becomes Classic Rock.

I imagine Cox will give KISS another 6 months to year for ratings to increase. Otherwise, look for Cox to throw in the towel on the Rock format.

Btw, KISS is down again to 2.7. X106.7 remains flat at 1.8. And that little station coming out of McQueeney, TX with substantially less city coverage....2.3

Bottom line- Rock is dead in SA!!!

Lisle and Hahn's replacement has been posted in the newspaper as of 10PM. It will be that Billy Madison show debuting the day after Thanksgiving. Is that a syndicated show out of Dallas? The newspaper article doesn't clarify.

Billy Madison is moving to SA from Tulsa. His show used to be in Dallas on The Edge. It's probably going to be closer to a Kidd Chris type show with dumb on air stunts/contests, and less like L&H banter/phonecalls.

On the BMS FB page it's stated that the show will be done in Tulsa and be syndicated to SA from Tulsa. Which I guess is cheaper for KISS.

While it would be doable, especially considering Cox has a Tulsa cluster (located right across the street from KHTT, by the way), it doesn't make a lot of sense to me unless, maybe, he has a kid in school and wants his kid to finish out the year before moving. 

It's come an incredibly long way over the last 5-10 years, but there's still not much to do in Tulsa.  The weather is also far worse there than in San Antonio.  Not only do you have more tornadoes and severe storms, but both the winters and summers in Tulsa are far worse.  Winter in Tulsa has a ton of days below freezing, and they've had two consecutive winters of more than 12 inches of snow in a day.  Ice storms and power outages also happen about every 3-5 years, and you can't be much more miserable in the winter than when you're without power for a week and temperatures in your home drop below 50, and you're out a ton of money because the lack of indoor heat causes your pipes to burst.  San Antonio has more days with temperatures of 90 degrees or greater, but Tulsa's summers are far stickier and extremely miserable.  The summer drought conditions have also only been slightly better in Oklahoma. Tulsa also has a crime rate that's every bit as high as San Antonio's. Roughly 30% of all murders in Oklahoma occur in Tulsa; Oklahoma City, while larger, only accounts for about 20%.  On top of that, you miss out on talent fees for remotes when you broadcast from 500 miles away unless you get your airplane boarding pass tattooed on your posterior!

You are clearly entitled to your opinion. Jakle already covered this topic in detail so when I spoke to Thompson I wanted to address the issues she did not cover. The rumor of a flip for example.

BTW blogs do not follow the traditional rules of journalism and those rules can be broken.

Two things, first if as you say 'blogs do not follow the traditional rules of journalism' then there are no rules to be broken and secondarily the author should still follow the rules of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and logic.

Even though Dominique's blog is hosted on MySA.com, it's obvious that it's a blog and not a news article. As long as the content of the blog post is solid and informative, the mechanics do not matter to me as much.

I personally enjoy the blogs, even though I still disagree with the whole Denise concept and execution.

Rock is FAR from dead in SA. There are lots of places in the city where rock music is thriving. I would re-phrase your quote to "modern rock is dead anywhere."

Not sure why you are having a difficult time understanding this but the new Morning Show on KISS will be live in SA. Whether Cox syndicates the show to other stations is yet to be announced. The comment of them not speaking Spanish is a response to question that posted by another FB user.
