It's basically a "home and lifestyle network".
Scripps (owner of KMCI and of WEWS here) picked up the network chain-wide recently. It is owned by ABC/Disney, and was originally only on ABC's O&Os.
The space for Live Well is ready on WEWS/5.2, but programming will start later this week...just color bars and tone right now.

Live Well is basically a poor woman's Discovery Fit & Health. A lot of low-cost barter syndicated shows in there ("Steven & Chris," "Laura Mackenzie's Traveler," etc.). Very similar to ION Life, which has since added movies.
I'll give it a year before ABC decides it's losing too much money and shuts it down.

If the channel hadn't been making money, I don't believe they would have kept the channel going. WJRT & WTVG are former ABC O&O that retained Livewell Network after they were sold back to the company that they bought them from. That was done in case WXYZ dropped ABC for CBS, that ABC could easily get those stations on cable during the time that WJBK dropped CBS for Fox, & Scripps nearly switched WXYZ to CBS in the mid 1990's.

I can't imagine Live Well getting more than 15,000 nationwide viewers at any time with the programming lineup they have (and they seem to repeat the programs multiple times). The only way I can see them making a profit is if they keep programming costs low enough to make the per-inquiry and direct response ads profitable (which they seem to have done) and the strategically placed infomercials.
