Live Well Network

So, what is the live well network? I am pretty sure that I would probably not watch or listen, but without knowing for sure I can only speculate that it is an "all about me, myself and I, and boy are we obsessed with ourselves" program.

And we know how well assuming works. :)

Of course, one could simply use the google to become educated.

Why on earth would I want to do that, when I could be led around by the nose like others?

Or, perhaps this is out there, but you could go to the network's website:

http://livewellnetwork.com/

It's basically a "home and lifestyle network".

Scripps (owner of KMCI and of WEWS here) picked up the network chain-wide recently. It is owned by ABC/Disney, and was originally only on ABC's O&Os.

The space for Live Well is ready on WEWS/5.2, but programming will start later this week...just color bars and tone right now.

Re-checked E-mail...my sources at WEWS say Live Well starts tomorrow.

They are lining up full cable carriage, with Time Warner digital 986 starting Wednesday, and other systems coming aboard at various times in the month or over the next few months. Massillon Cable/Clear Picture will debut it tomorrow.

But TWC is the monster system here.

Live Well is basically a poor woman's Discovery Fit & Health. A lot of low-cost barter syndicated shows in there ("Steven & Chris," "Laura Mackenzie's Traveler," etc.). Very similar to ION Life, which has since added movies.

I'll give it a year before ABC decides it's losing too much money and shuts it down.

Hey, I LIKE Laura M. I even E-mailed her once. :)

But yea, like the rest of us in this thread, I have the wrong set of chromosones to appreciate Live Well.

Supposedly, they are making money off the channel. Of course, the economy can change that at any moment. If the channel hadn't been making money, I don't believe they would have kept the channel going. WJRT & WTVG are former ABC O&O that retained Livewell Network after they were sold back to the company that they bought them from. That was done in case WXYZ dropped ABC for CBS, that ABC could easily get those stations on cable during the time that WJBK dropped CBS for Fox, & Scripps nearly switched WXYZ to CBS in the mid 1990's.

If anybody can make a Home & Lifestyle network succeed, it would be Disney/ABC. Look at The View as an example. No one thought that show much of a chance until it started to morph itself into a debate club of sorts. Now, debating politics is what some women do at Salons from Coast to Coast

JMO.....

Cheers :D

I can't imagine Live Well getting more than 15,000 nationwide viewers at any time with the programming lineup they have (and they seem to repeat the programs multiple times). The only way I can see them making a profit is if they keep programming costs low enough to make the per-inquiry and direct response ads profitable (which they seem to have done) and the strategically placed infomercials.

Do you mean Time Warner every where or just KC area?

If you're asking me, I mean Time Warner Northeast Ohio, since A) I specified a channel number and other local systems and B) I live here.

I do agree that the programming is repetitive. With ABC slowly getting affiliates, it will give them a chance to get more exposure, & eventually, some affiliates will create programs for the network. I can't say the programming will be better, but they're getting more programming on there. At least they're getting newer programming for the network, unlike Ion Life is doing. Ion Media insists on owning all their stations, refusing to let anyone affiliate with them, & that keeps them from being able to program their network better.

Thanks because like all Time Warners have different Lineups and Digital Sub Channels.
Comcast Olathe/MO doesn't get Ion Life or even Discovery Fit and Health.

Live Well went live today on WEWS 5.2 Cleveland (OTA). Cable carriage to follow, as listed above. No, I don't know what cable channel it'll be on in Kansas City.
