I normally like fun, disposable songs on CHR yet I hate this song with a passion. One of my most hated songs in 40+ years of actively listening to music. If I was any younger I would really get worked up over this, to the point where I would lose sleep reflecting on how much I hate it. I just don't have it in me to get that upset over a song anymore but I still know I despise this song to the core of my being.

I like “Sexy and I Know It” better than Right Said Fred’s hit “I’m Too Sexy”, but that isn’t saying a whole lot…

Have to keep in mind that this song is targeted to the 18-25 year olds out there who are trying to grow up but also act like 13 year olds in heat. Not 30+ year old males who are working like dogs to provide for a baby on the way. I guess I'm just funny that way, but I'm 32 years old and I work in radio PLUS I'm the resident DJ at the largest club in Middle Tennessee outside of Nashville. I see every weekend how the 21 & up crowd reacts to the song. It's like their previous release "Shots" with Lil' John. They go nuts! Not everything that works in a club will translate to extra arbitron points on the radio, but you know...if they like it enough to download it and dance to it in a club environment then perhaps you should be playing it. Whether you like it or not of course. Top 40 is like Country, it's never going to sound like it used to. It's up to the current crop of programmers to adjust to your listening audience's taste with equalled change or get left behind and become totally irrelevent to them. LMFAO is just one of those groups that have taken the Top 40 genre and put a slightly different twist on it. To put LMFAO up there (or down there) with Right Said Fred is an insult. RSF was barely a one-hit wonder and LMFAO has more than one hit to their name just for starters.

I would have loved "Shots" better if they replaced it with "Joints."

Is it really? I know you don't like the song.

I'm not saying that whatever is played in a club environment is a hit and should be on the radio. What I am saying is playing the same 30 songs over and over and over is stupid and quite frankly, one of the biggest reasons the majority of big city Top 40 stations all hover around a 5-8 share in the market. Programmers have lost touch with their listeners and they listen too much to the consultants and brand managers.

Just because LMAFO has more hits doesn't mean they won't end up on the "Where are they now" category, where RSF is on the list.

Yes it is, but some on here want to compare LMFAO AND "Sexy And I Know It" to someone and their song that they feel is on the same "level" from over 15 years ago. I'm simply stating that the comparison isn't really there when you break it down. That's all.

Maybe not this song, but Party Rock Anthem would probably qualify. Novelty might be an outdated word, perhaps "viral" or some other modern word or phrase describing the latest thing would suite better.
