WENG in south Sarasota county has a nice little station with a nice local sound/feel.
I would imagine that at night, most people in Englewood would listen to W298AV- WENG's 80 watt (174 foot antenna) fm translator,....... since not everyone or not many people could park their cars or RV's under the WENG am tower.Nostalgia said:First, for Greenie, please name those three stations!
Second, for AllTheGold, I looked WENG up and its not a true mom and pop since the owners are somewhere else, unless they are snowbirds and are at this station in the winter. But what caught my eye is their nighttime power: .0013kw, thats 1.3 watts!!!! I have a nightlight in my bathroom with more power!![]()
The Villages could be compared to Disney's "Celebration".greenie said:My 3 would be WENG Englewood, WWBF Bartow, WWJB Brooksville. Just my opinion, I was only thinking AM here since that has become a flat disaster area. Terrible audio processing, programming, including blocks of dead air, etc. I just think if you can make a small market AM work today you must be doing something right. I think Bartow and Brooksville have been under the same two owners for 20 years, or more! Maybe three was cutting it a little thin but not much. I think of WVLG as being more of a Lake County station in the Villages. Speaking of the Villages, isn't that a little like Disney World?:-\
