Looks like it's time to load up the mp3 player for the mornings...

Music in the morning IS working for many stations under the PPM, especially where the morning team doesn't really fit the overall station personality ("stationality"). So, even in a moves-at-the-speed-of-molasses market like Columbus we'll probably see some new more-music morning shows and/or existing shows re-tooled to talk less. Of course, since talent isn't paid as well here there's less urgency to can them if the morning ratings drops under PPM aren't too severe.

I hope PPM makes changes for the better in Columbus radio, but if it is suppose to just do what the system that is in place is now is doing, I don't got my hopes up for it.

Wasn't Rover on the old Rock 107.1? This is when 107.1 was a Rock station.
Nope...Rover wasn't on The Big WAZU, but Opie and Anthony were...in afternoon drive no less.

Nope... Rover was on WAZU, back when he was based out of Chicago and the satation was owned by CBS. Opie and Anthony were on in the afternoon. that went on untill Wilks bought the station and changed it to country

Quote from the Seattle- Tacoma board here on Radio-Info.
"His name is Rover(From WXTM/Cleveland). He'll be based at Chicago's WCKG and will also be heard on Infinity's WAZU/Columbus(Ohio), WMFS/Memphis, WKRK/Detroit, WAQZ/Cincinnati, and WZNE/Rochester, NY.

And he lost all of those stations but WZNE (which, along with the rest of the Rochester cluster, was sold off twice in a little over a year). But then again, Rochester is dominated by legendary jock Brother Wease, so Rover could be considered almost a low-risk throwaway.

Rover (real name: Shane French) is a good businessmen... to a point. He did all of the right moves early on, when he asserted all ownership of his show and intellectual property. Which made it far easier to jump off of CBS to join Clear Channel; he was only off the air in Cleveland for six weeks. Unfortunately he relies too much on his bone-headed sidekicks (the honor system run amok; but hey, the way his contract with CC was drawn up, he pretty much employs them) and I'd be quick to point out that it's probably why his show bombed when CBS syndicated it. It may work in Cleveland and Rochester, but it was a failure everywhere else. Especially in Chicago and Detroit.

Ironically, the station he left in Cleveland has seen a significant rebound in the ratings - after they went with a "radio 92.3" jockless modern rock format, implemented months after he left.

Bob and Tom are NO LONGER on 99.7 The Blitz. They were dropped and replaced by the guys that were dropped and replaced by them. 99.7's morning show is once again Blazor and Mo In The Morning along with Shark on sports and Kelley in studio reading the news. It is quite simply the best morning show in Columbus even WITH music. -Mo

Sometimes radio management does admit it made a mistake. sometimes.
