Looks like this might be the "New Breakaway"!!

@Leif: Sorry for wrong quote, my question ofcourse is (still):
So... (the new) Breakaway Live is not (gonna be) like the processing part of Omnia 9/XE?

I answered your question in my very first post in this thread, directly to you. I then clarified my position. Not sure I can be any clearer.
By answereing the question... You stated that Breakaway is nothing like 9/XE. We are told 9/XE is 'streaming part' of O9 right? O9, as far as we know, is based on Breakaway but based/build on the newer framework. So I'm going out on a ledge here and guess 9/XE is based on that same framework and can therefore not be compared with Breakaway?

So, here is my (unanswered) question: Is the new Breakaway Live gonna be like the processing part of Omnia 9/XE? And will a new Breakaway be indeed released this year or is that just wishfull thinking?

My 2 main dreams/wishes/requests for the new Breakaway are 1: Undo and 2: Built in Encoding.. Otherwise, it should be roughly the same price and perhaps a discount or deal for upgraders...

Thanks in advance, Mr. Claesson!

I would concur on Undo. I also want to note that Stereo Tool has tackled this with Natural Dynamics. Hans has been a mad man on throwing out code.

I am scared Hans is going to get scooped up by the big boys too. That would be bad for us, because Stereo Tool is an excellent value for the industry, just as Breakaway was. At this point, ST is superior to Breakaway. Has been for the last few versions. In particular on Vocal content.

OK Chris, let's not turn this into another Stereo Tool vs. Breakaway thread.

(I also hope it won't require a super-duper CPU) (I really don't want much) (Really)

I've long maintained, and still do, that both products have legitimate places. Whether you consider Breakaway "current" or not, you'd be hard-pressed to find a hardware-based processor for under $6,000 that comes close to what it still does. One feature that still makes the software valid is its low latency in the ASIO version.

Stereo Tool has some nifty new features, and for many, it may be the current "new thing". It does all of its magic at a price though... in processor power and time.

You have to decide which model is best for you, as you would in a "Omnia VS Orban FS Vorsis" shootout.

In any case, Leif owes an explanation to no one. At least partially with the information he gleaned from us as beta testers, he manufactured another piece of his future. For that, he gave us a very advanced piece of software for pennies on the dollar. Beyond that, he could call the Breakaway software final and it would be just fine as it is... for what it is.

I know people who still think the old MBL 2 & MBL 4 processors have applications. Nobody's harassing that author for updates.

Btw... I have a Omnia 9 running FM, HD1 and HD2 on our station. Guess why I bought it instead of other options? Yup. Breakaway. I knew from Breakaway experience that the 9 was the best hardware box for the task. It sounds great and hasn't even had to be rebooted in the five months it's been on the air. We are the best sounding station in the market, bar none. I am currently using an Arine at the studio we already had for the stream as the 9 lives at the tower so in future years I'd like to consider this new streaming card for the hd1 station. Although the Arine is sweet and works good, this new card should actually do even better for us. In this day and age of technology there is little reason to sound crappy on OTA or streaming. Technology is actually much cheaper and certainly much better thanks to guys like Leif and Hans. We have certainly come a long ways from the days of the 8200.

Sounds like a great deal. Good soundprocessing + the choice of your own hardware which you can service yourself. Keep some spare parts on the shelf or build a second system just in case. What more do you want? Come on people, $1450 + $2000 for hardware is a steal for processing if you ask me.

Actually, John Burnill has been updating it... he just released the latest version of Sonos 4 (formerly MBL4) in August 2013:

He did shut down his site when MBL4 became the processing core of the Inovonics Omega FM, but once the Omega was discontinued (despite being advertised as "never obsolete!") John picked up delevopment of MBL/Sonos again.
