Lou Dobbs Leaving CNN Effective Immediately

DToTheJ said:
A reminder that Dobbs will be on Fox's "O'Reilly Factor" tonight!

O'Reilly asked Lou to return as a semi-regular guest.

I wonder if John King will continue the Lou Dobbs Heroes tributes on Fridays.

The reason Lou Dobbs left is because he was putting too much emphasis on Protectionism. Also he was accused of being anti-Chinese and anti-Hispanic because he accused "organizations" for stealing jobs from Native Born Americans. Fox News Pundit and Ex-20/20 host Stossel told Dobbs that his beliefs was quationable.

Dobbs has been accused of being anti-(fill in blank) for years, now. Though the country is arguably a little more liberal these days because Obama was elected, there was no pressure on CNN (that I was aware of) to make Lou go away.

I don't think that's why CNN wanted him gone. Besides, he won't be 'gone' anyway - I'm sure Fox News will pay his price to get him back on the air, if that's what he wants.

The only way Lou Dobbs will be silenced now is his own choice - if he has decided he doesn't want to be on the air anymore.

That would be correct. Me, being Hispanic, I am not shocked that this guy is off the air, this should have happened a long time ago. I never once saw one of his shows and basically was not interested, because flipping through channels I happened to pass by it one night, and he was talking about Hispanics like they don't deserve to be here. Oddly enough, I do believe that he is married to a Hispanic woman. I am glad he is off the air and I hope he doesn't get a job anywhere.... That's just my opnion, though.

Dobbs is married to a Latino woman who was an immigrant. But I'm sure he'd say that's different because she followed the law and came here legally.

If that is the reason CNN let him go, you have to give CNN credit for putting their credibility ahead of ratings. I don't have even the slightest doubt that Fox News would love to have Lou Dobbs. Like it or not, the Fox right-wing pundit shows (Hannity, O'Reillly, Beck) kick CNN's sorry old a** in the ratings. Dobbs on Fox would be another nail in CNN's coffin.

Pardon the mixed metaphors.

It cracks me up that Lou Dobbs being married to a Latina immigrant messes with the bigotry of the Left, who insist that the desire to enforce the laws of this country is based on racism. It is not. But, the self-proclaimed "tolerant" want him banished from the airwaves because he disagrees with them.

Dobbs spent many years in Yuma, Arizona, working for KBLU radio and KBLU-TV before he went over to CNN. If anyone knows the problems that illegal immigration causes, he does.

Semantics, perhaps...but Dobbs didn't go from Yuma to CNN. He spent many years at NBC affiliated KING-TV in Seattle before landing at CNN.

You're right: semantics. I did not mean to imply that he went directly from Yuma to CNN. The point, however, was that Dobbs understands the problems that plague the US - Mexican border, having lived there.

Don't be surprised if Dobbs ends up with his own syndicated radio talk show.
Umm.....FYI - He already has that. When he was CNN, he always promoted it at the end of every broadcast.

Again just FYI.....

Cheers :D

Lou Dobbs was on The Daily Show and had a long interview with Jon Stewart. Lou actually sounded like the centrist that he seemed like 5 years ago. Based on this interview alone, I would not class him with Beck or Hannity. However his 'birther" reporting sure makes him sound like Faux Noise material.

For the last couple of weeks, John Roberts has been doing a regular newscast in Lou's old timeslot on CNN under the name CNN Tonight. Honestly, I hope this becomes permanent as then this way, CNN can counter what FOX News has been doing for years with The FOX Report, which is also on at 7:00 PM ET.

Besides, it's A LOT easier for CNN to replace John Roberts on American Morning than it is for them to replace Lou Dobbs @ 7:00 PM ET.

Thoughts?

Cheers :D

I also hear Dobbs co-hosted "The Kudlow Report" on CNBC last Thursday with Larry Kudlow.

Sorry, John King takes over next year - and then most likely, the show will be renamed "John King Tonight."

As for John Roberts? If CNN doesn't renew his contract, I can see him going to Fox.

I'm for the Media channels having a divided audience. Leftists along with Moderates can listen to CNN or MSNBC while Conservatives listen to Fox News.

Most businesses and restaurants use CNN on their TV's . I think that is the prudent choice and CNN fits that as well as possible. Fixed News is too partisan and so is MSNBC and I think most public businesses have caught on. I have asked my gym to take Faux Noise off the screen and not only did they comply, but said I was not the first to ask. Who wants to work out to Fixed and Friends? Now they run HLN and keep it neutral.

Fixed News? Grow up.
