Love and Hudson to reunite on MY 102.5?

one translator is doing well in gsp. there are lots of egos on that couch with lots of opinions for a business venture. i give it less than a year jmo

This seems like a pretty costly venture to me unless these guys are working for next to nothing. I respect what they are doing and think it will be interesting to hear but they will have a big handicap compared to the other translators in the market with that FM signal....they are a Spartanburg station. Every other station tries to target or be based around Greenville (for good reason). I think it would do better if it was on a stick like Cox has for their stations on Paris Mtn., but I know that's not possible for 910.

According to the FCC site (which can often be hard for me to interperet), it looks like the FM translator is located on a tower off Little Mountain Rd, NW of Spartanburg and SW of Inman - near the county landfill and Vulcan quarry, if Google Maps is accurate here. I also queried the WOLI (AM) site and these sites do NOT appear to be co-located. There is only a single tower at the translator site, and the WOLI description states 3 towers since AM 910 is directional. Is the translator on a tower by itself or is it shared by another broadcaster or is it a cell phone or other similar tower? Also, the translator is currently licensed for 105 watts with a CP for 250 watts which I think is the max for a translator. They could already be running 250 watts or simply ready to "turn it up" on Monday.

Yes the translator was on from our Wellford Landfill tower through yesterday at 105 watts
directional. This is the same stick that is home to 103.3 Spin FM (WOLT) and Hots 94.1 translator.
As of late Friday 105.7 is now located at the WOLI-AM site closer to the city. It is now also non
directional and at the full translator power of 250 watts. Sure we'd love to be on a mountain but
that's just not possible. Enjoy where you can....stream where you can't. www.woli-am.com
A new website coming soon...

I can't pick up 105.7 even marginally from my office near Woodruff and Hwy 14 in Greenville. I did tune in 910am and I can get that station. I only listened to Love and Hudson for a couple of minutes this morning (on the Tune In app). Anyone else have an opinion on how they did on their first day?

Listening (online) to and enjoying the music on "Earth". But, I must say, what was the first thing you thought of when you saw the slogan "Earth"? I immediately thought this was a station that caters to tree-hugging, snail-darter-loving environmentalists, talking about recycling and "renewable" energy and a better fit for Asheville. I am truly being Honest. So, I'm glad I watched the segment on "Your Carolina" the other week to learn this station had none of this in mind.

It's obviously a copy of "K-Earth 101" in LA - but that name just flows better. Maybe it's that it's just been around so long, I don't know, but I like that moniker more than "Earth 105.7." When I heard Love and Hudson and Lee Alexander, I knew it would be Oldies, so the name made sense - but I can see how it could be something in Asheville (LOL) or an AAA-type format.

I was in eastern (as well as northern) Greenville County today and got no signal of Earth FM at 105.7 anywhere, just a mess of Eagle in Augusta and static. I think the Radio-Locator map overestimates it, at least at the fringe. My car's radio is fairly recent, so its AM reception on that band isn't great, but I got a listenable signal on 910 around Simpsonville, but (of course) it weakens going in to Greenville.

What great news! I look back on my time at MY as a highlight, and working with these guys was a big part of that.

The signal will be a tough challenge, but this needs to happen more often. Big companies cut expenses carelessly, assuming that the other big companies with which they compete will follow them in their race to the bottom. What a great story it would be for these guys to come back and make life tough for the big chain operators.

I wish them the best!

i wish them the best too. from another post beach bob was missing today. spin fm is failing with the operations manager as part of the airstaff on the earth could this mean earth will move to 103.3? sounds like the money may be talking.

Love and Hudson is broadcasting under Earth Radio 105.7FM/910 AM for those out of the Spartanburg, SC area. There is also an internet streaming site to hear the show from 6 am - 10am, Monday through Friday plus oldies from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s with sports and weather updates. Yes, it's 24 hrs a day. Check it out.

Folks can pick this up anywhere in the US, so I recommend using the internet streaming site at the moment. That site is: http://tunein.com/station/?StationId=22920. I bookmarked mine so I can listen while I work. Hope that sheds some light on where the guys are -- it's not related to their former station at all. :)

It IS NOT affiliated with MY 102.5 or any other station.

If you will take the time to read all of the posts on the old MY 102.5 thread, you will notice that a tie-in was made to that old GoodTimesand GreatOldies thread for reference purposes only at the top of page 3. Even that particular post is titled Re: Love and Hudson reunite on Earth (105.7 / 810). I believe if you read the posts on both threads you will realize that everyone on here was fully aware that Love and Hudson were reuniting on 105.7 / 910.
