Can anyone tell me what is in store for Magic 93.7FM in Lubbock. I have seen a couple of very vague promos on television (Ramar owned stations) and it piqued my interest.

Thanks,
Goat

Is that station still Tejano? If so, dump it and go Hurban. Just my opinion...

Haven't seen any promos...I'd be really suprised if they changed 93.7 seeing as how its been RAMARs darling...are you sure it wasn't 97.3?

Thank you, I did have my information wrong...it is 97.3. Promo is just 97.3 in red on a black screen...I forget the voice over or background sound.

Hmmmm. Looks like the winds are finally going to start blowing in Lubbock again! Things are about to get hotter with a new player! Down goes the Beat......

I wouldn't count on 97.3 or anything with RAMAR bringing down the Beat or any of the top players. 97.3 doesn't have the best signal either.

I really dont see what the hype is about. The Beat's ratings will drop, 97.3 will take half of The Beats crowd, and KLLL will be back on top in the market. I see why THEY would be happy, but why everyone else?

Uh....
97.3's city of license is Plainview,
104.9's city of license is Tulia. (Tulia is further north than Plainview).
97.3 is 50kw..

So, really, isn't 97.3's signal closer to Lubbock than 104.9's?
Seems to me, they both cover the same area.
Just an observation.

Both stations are 100,000 watt FM's. 104.9 has better Lubbock penetration than 97.3. 104.9 has the tallest tower for an FM in the Lubbock area, which contributes to their incredible large coverage area. As for 97.3, they are a directional FM with a null directly towards Lubbock (their tower is near Petersburg). 97.3 gets better coverage to the North and West than to the South.

I'd be willing to bet Ramar could get rid of that null toward Pecos (and Lubbock in the process) if they really wanted to...
