i heard the demo,it said it was ole' uncle lair, but he didn't sound right. i thought he sounded a little rough also..age and cigarettes most likely..how old is he now..mid 60's ?

on the other hand, Dick Biondi is in his mid to late 70's- looks older than that! , BUT sounds like just like he did in 1960 every night on WLS-FM. amazing!

Mr. Biondi still has the energy of a 30 year old.
what is it??? Geritol?

I don't know, but he should bottle it. He'd make billions.

what keeps him going is his passion for HIS music and the response i'm guessing he gets from the show..he is one of the greats from the rock era..and his love for the music shows..if he had to stop doing it tomorrow..i bet he wouldn't live a month..i think it was george burns that said."fall in love with what you do..and you'll never be out of work"..or words to that effect. biondi was a little before my time..but i do remember him as a kid on WLS..i don't think he's ever had another job other than radio...when he signs off for good..probably be sittin' at the board..and when the likes of biondi, landecker, lujack, etc are gone..they won't be replaced..all thoses guys were at the right place at the right time...i'm just glad i was able to listen on a nine transister radio 700 miles away.. ;)

Indeed you captured him perfectly. Passion for his craft is what Mr. Biondi is all about.

Dick Biondi is lucky to still be working in this business at his age... on second thought, he's lucky to still be working PERIOD.

The people love him and that comes across very well on his show.

Uncle Lar' & Li'l Tommy

no one has mentioned it, but i will... everyone talks about WLS but, i think Lujack's best years(when he sounded the best) was at WCFL with Rook.

but wasn't rook the pd at WLS when lujack, landecker etc were there ? i would jump between both stations at night back then..

I believe Rook was at WLS when Lujack was first there in the late 69s & very early 70s.

John Rook took "Big 10" to "Super CFL" by bringing over old uncle lar from WLS in 72'.. it was a great battle between the two that made for some incredible radio.

It was a good battle for awhile as WCFL actually surpassed WLS briefly in 73, but WLS once again took the lead quickly and never looked back.

CFL was a better sounding radio station than WLS when they beat them.

True, but they also used that old radio trick of speeding up their records.
